Garage List
I'm in a m550 lease that will end (hopefully) near the time the new M's get released to the wild.
Hoping it's going to be interesting enough to hold my attention. Was thinking of ED for this one.

What's holding me over is a 2018 M3 6MT... it's the best and fastest 4 door 6MT in the world... I'll wait to see what the new G80 actually offers...

Which car to get until the M3 arrives?

hi... so, now that the m3 is coming out in a year, what car to get in the mean time? Also corvette is far away, really like it...

Requirements: hopefully doesn't loose much value ($5k-6k a year), and hopefully won't kill on taxes (or do a trade in with the dealer). Can be both daily and track car.

1. M2 Comp... sucks the DME is locked, and can't be tuned, big turn off.
2. used m4 (around $40k).
3. GT350... not sure on keeping value, plus driving a mustang is kind of...
4. 997TT... just sold my 997 4s, so back into 997... they can be problematic, but seem to keep value, but who knows
5. 991.1 or 991.2.. question on value (will prices plummet with the new one out) and reliability
6. Cayman GT4, question on reliability and value ($80k+)
7. Newer viper...
8. Audi R8 V10 6spd ... kind of pricey, hard to find clean car. reliability?
9. Really, really, really want AMG GT-S.. but seems to flashy, just started a job at a start up, don't want to have wrong impression of me.
10. Any other AMG's? never had a Benz...

what am I missing? what's your take on these? Secret pleasure, test drove x3m comp, holly crap its nice...

Just buy a 996GT3 if you want a car that drives great but doesn't look great!

Trust me...

The 996 GT3 looked good; the 991 GT3 looks better.

Not sure my 14y 5’10” and 10y 5’3” girls will appreciate the accommodations. And while the interior of the 996 is rather tired the exterior ain’t what I’d call ugly.

It was sexy during its time, but juxtaposed up against a recent model GT3, the 996 definitely lacks the exterior presence. It's interesting how new, more modern versions of the cars we like/love often change how we once felt about the cars that preceded them.

I agree sometime it works in favor of the old model and sometimes the opposite. For me the 996 GT3 has aged well and I appreciate it’s elegance more today than when it was in production. I was in love with the minimalist and butch exterior and interior design of the 993 and never really warmed up to the 996 during it’s production years.

I liked the 997 well enough but when the 991 was launched I marveled over how Porsche could make a design that old look that modern. The 992 leave me cold again. I was like WTF is that, it looks exactly like a 991 with a less attractive body kit. Boo boring.

The jury is still out on the 992 for me. I'll reserve judgment for the official release, but right now the 991 really does stir my soul in a major way.

Don’t get me wrong if cost of ownership and practicality was acceptable for me I’d put in my order as we speak.

But as aesthetic design upgrade goes it’s a massive disappointment.

Lol! In my ideal garage a manual transmission 991.X GT3 would be parked next to my M4 and my Panigale V4.....

....and I would still have a beater to commute in.

You have to do it at least once....all the latest crop of over-weight "sports cars" have me looking at 996/997 GT3 and GT4s again...
