So I guess BMW went back to the 1950's look.

Wow thats the first time I hear this. I do not see the function, sorry, as most BMW's in the past did not have a hoodline, also most newer models to not have them either. So what's the function? Passenger safety? I do not think so, then the whole VAG Group would have to do add this feature as well. It's like having a second door line in the middle of the door

That's the case! There are hoodlines who are actually looking good. Take any recent Lambo or the Giulia qv. There it's part of the hood design. But it isn't in BMW's case as in the past the hood design was the same, just without the hood line.

Take a look at the past M3 generations - hood design was always the same, the outline ending in the middle of the headlights, with some small cuts on the kidney's height (e46 was different though). It would have also been possible with the F generation, but yeah... it does just look soooo much cleaner without! And the fact that the hood goes upwards on the G80/82, it makes things even worse. @SCOTT26 Could you please clarify?
I see what you are saying about some models not having a hoodline ie the line is along the headlights and top of the grill, practically vanished, but doesnt it seem like if the same were done for this car it would look bad, maybe worse? Can we get a Pshop?

I have seen some bad hood lines on bmw, like f10 series IMO, but this one doesnt bother me. I am not saying it isnt bothersome, thats for each person to decide

A car shouldn't have to be in a specific color to look good. Its poor design, plain and simple. Good design doesn't need excuses.

Freekin awful.

Earth to BMW! WAKE UP.

By my count 87% of posts HATE the design. Shouldn't BMW want 87% of BMW enthusiasts to LOVE the design?

This is just a terrible business model.

I am not going to spend $75,000+ on a car I and most of my friends think is hideously repulsive.

Is that cause it hides the grille and details, making it appear half normal?

I owned a black car once. 10 years later I’ve never repeated my mistake.

If one needs to get a car in black to hide its features than something is seriously wrong with the car.
