So basically BMW sacrificed the appearance of the car because making it look good AND meet safety standards at the same time wasn't cost effective? Oddly enough, they seemed to figure it out that hood line on the G20 so something seems odd...

Does this has to to with the fact that the F8x front is pointed more downwards compared to the E9x? If this is the case, I do not understand why on the following M5 comparison pic there isn't a hoodline on the E60, but on the F10? To me the height of the headlights, kidneys and whole front is about the same IMHO, the F10 would have looked so much cleaner without the line... just do the small cuts between the headlights and the kidney, and between the two kidneys and there you go. The inconsistency is the thing that confuses. Thanks in advance! PS: are you a fan of the hoodline? Just wondering... |

What happened to the G20 then? Definitely not that much taller than a G22/G80/G82 will be but its hood meets the kidneys. Why did the G20 not need a hood line when the G22 needed one? Also no hood lines on M5 or M8...

Let’s hope BMW is adaptable and able to take advantage of the current situation with more online audiences than possibly ever in our lifetimes and create something awesome for us to enjoy in form of videos and images

With F10 you are at about 2007 in initial development. So when they launch the new 4 although it's all new in 2020. It's already around two years old internally.

THE 4 with its central Grille taking place front and centre has more complexity in regards to meeting legislation but also in a cost effective form for production. Compare the 8 with the 2018 concept and you see the concept is far lower but the production cars is much higher. Another example is the Z4 Concept and production Z4 again the production nose is higher over the concept in regards to accommodating legislation and production costs.

The only logic I can see behind this is "if we ruin our base M car, then people will be forced to upgrade to the m5!" Last edited by JSaid; 04-09-2020 at 12:44 AM.. |

Just because Prius is fuel efficient and good performance for city, doesn’t mean I have to accept how fugly it is.
BMW seems to be stretching the hype long after the intended release date to overshadow M3/4’s questionable design. Only for its sale to flush down the drain like the 8 series.
