G20 Glove Box Light Help Please

Hi guys,
My glove box light doesn’t seem to work - I have 3 new original bmw ones to try and none work. Do you know of any fuse I can look at and where it is? The boot light works and all other lights work as they should.

Thank you 🙏

There’s a fuse list at https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...25&postcount=2 and although it’s not overly helpful it may get you in the right direction

Thank you for the quick reply, it’s a minefield as to what I’m looking for. Nothing there shows anything that resembles an interior light. Thanks again for your help.

From what I can make out fuse is 5 amp situated in front footwell module F61. This feeds positive to the glovebox light switch then to the light when glovebox opened. Negative supply comes from the Body Domain Controller. Test with a meter are you missing positive or negative supply at the glovebox light with the glovebox open ? That will tell you what direction to go in Fuse, glovebox switch or loss of negative from the Body Domain Controller.

I have the same issue and BMW told me that I need new light about $40 but it may not work either and will of to pay for the programming. So I just leave it as it is. It's been like 7 months now because I rarely open my glove box so I don't let it gets to me anymore.

They blame it on ambient colour coding so they don't want to do under warranty and they go as far to open a TSARA case on my Vin about it so it doesn't matter what dealership I go they will find the note under my VIN.

There’s a switch which is part of the hinge mechanism, but you need to remove the glove box to get to it, which is quite a dismantle job.

Ares31 I know exactly how you feel but I wouldn't stress about it because you change the light to a new one and still not working. Wait until you have something major that need programming then you ask them if them can also check why your glove box light not working.

I’m reasonably sure that the glovebox light won’t have anything to do with programming.

You could be right but it doesn't harm to ask while they doing diagnostic because it could also be wiring problem because I remember my passenger side welcome light not working even when they order new light replace it. The light was OK for about a month then it goes out again and when they do a diagnostic they find out it's a wiring issue and do rewiring from day my welcome light never failed.
