I am living in Munich. I actually downloaded the update via from my bmw app and then uploaded it into the car later. Maybe it failed due to the fact that I tried to start update in an underground parking garage. So, like you said it could be a signal issue that car might still need during update even though the upgrade files were already downloaded. I will give it a try somewhere outside and see if that works.

My Australian 2019 330i was just upgraded to iDrive 03/2021.25 (from 07/2020.60) by the dealer. Everything is working well and I have not experienced any issues at all. Remote services are far more reliable than before.

I have not noticed any new or removed features between the two versions.

For those wondering about maps and the HUD, using Apple Maps via Car Play still shows up in the HUD and the Instrument Cluster. Google Maps does not appear in the HUD or Instrument Cluster, only the centre console.

Thanks to @IFR I’ve fixed the HUD issue. I upgraded OTA to 11/2020.50 this week and it was still broken.

IFR believed it was coding not firmware and provided his MY21 details which changes the HUD menu options. I applied it today and it’s now working again.

What i-step are you on? Are you using EsysX? I contacted them for the latest version last week as I originally purchased in August last year and there’s been some significant updates I believe.

Oh... I'm using Bimmercode. I guess that's the issue? My I-Step is 11/2020.80 . My tach worked in the HUD with Sport mode prior to this.

In DKOMBI I'm missing the AUS, AUTOMATISCH and PERMANENT parameters.

I’m not familiar with Bimmercode, I went with the Esys / EsysX option. Hopefully someone else can confirm if there’s a way to do it.

IFR suggested an idrive reset (not reboot) and it fixed the steering wheel heating issue for me.

It's a bit of a pain as you have to apply most of the idrive settings again including phone pairing, seat positions, app pairing.

I'd like to know that too. My 330e has never had an OTA update and was updated to 03/2020 (I think) at the dealer. As far as I can tell, there's a lot of things, large and small, that I'm missing out on.
I should add, it's from September 2019, so there's been plenty of time!

My g20 is still on 2019/07. It is a Sept 19 car which I purchased in Sept 20 & have never had any updates. The connected drive services don’t work hardly at all & the apple car play is sometimes a bit buggy. I will take it in at some point - just waiting for things to open up a bit.

I read elsewhere on the forum that you have to reset your driver profile (meaning remove and recreate). After that, the rules should all be available. Weird solution, but it's what I read works

Yeah it’s pretty bad I think. Mine has to go in to the dealer in a few weeks so I am going to ask them to have a look. Fingers crossed they will update it and things will start working. To be honest I am not that fussed about the remote services, but when a car costs a lot of money and has all of this tech it really should work.

I just received the OTA update for the first time since 2019 I usually take it to the dealer and say that it's not working consistently and ask them for an update most of the time.. But today I just saw the software downloading in my car. Havent installed yet. Can anyone suggest me tips before I start the installation. 1. Not in a parking garage. Any more tips will be appreciated. I don't have any coding

If you want them to update, the best chance you have is to tell them the infotainment system is not showing 'sometimes' or it flickers. They may not be able to replicate it but will do a complimentary update. Worked 90% of the times for me in different states.

Yeah cheers. To be fair the remote services don’t work 95% of the time & the Apple car play is buggy. I can show them the remote history on the iPhone app and it just says failed, failed, failed !

I have to take it in for them to take a look at the sun roof rattle, I am waiting as it is much worse in warm weather

I got my sunroof replaced after reporting it multiple times. It was okay for a year and half and then it slowly started coming back but not as bad as the first time. Now they just way it's not the sunroof it's something else..
