I have the ability to use a 240 volt charger in my garage. So when I am doing local trips, I often set the car at electric drive and then just plug it back in when I get home. |

At 9am it showed 100% charged and a range of 43kms. It’s now 5pm and it still says 100% charged but the range has dropped to 36kms. The car hasn’t been moved all day. Is this normal?

So there might be some pattern recognition and depending on the location&time it guesses where you might go next and your expected consumption. ... or maybe not. |

Hey there, sorry to jump in,
I'm considering the new 330e, currently have the F30 version and love it! Is Xtraboost mode needs to be specifically activated, or if you just floor iti in sports mode it's activated automatically? Thank you |

When I read all these conversations here I cannot stop thinking how simple life was when I drove my f30 318d. This car averaged 5,4 l/100 km all year long with a mix of driving in city, highways over 130 km/h, short trips, long trips, hot or cold... never needed to be plugged in at home and never thinking about how I should take on my next trip.

Xtraboost and Sports mode are two different things. Xtraboost is engaged but default and sports with a second press.

Sadly for company car drivers in the UK diesel just is not an option, so some sort of a hybrid is the way forward. Whether we like it or not, this is the future .....how depressing!

I'm no greens party member but I also do not hate the fact that in my use the 330e eliminates about 90% of engine colds starts when the car pollutes way more than any co2 numbers in the product literature claims. Add in a big pile of tax benefits; over here a 330d with similar spec would cost about 13 Keur more due to taxes + about 400-500 Eur per year on taxes. We also have one of the most expensive fuel in the planet and electricity among cheapest in the Europe. For all this I'll plug in car twice a day, takes less than 2 minutes total... Using these hybrids can be made really easy: plug in whenever you can, climatize when plugged in when possible (a big win in comfort too) and always drive Hybrid Eco Pro mode. Nothing more is really needed to obtain 98% of the benefits. Last edited by tn1krr; 01-27-2020 at 05:22 AM.. |

Did a 90km trip today, left with 75% charge, of those 90km ~25km were highway miles at 130kph. The rest was done preety much at 80-100kph on cruise control, very low trafiic, preety much no stopping except for some roundabouts and light signals. Temperature was 15-18C which is preety optimal for battery
Did the trip in eletric mode except for the highway parts until he forced me into hybrid mode. It forced me out of eletric after 65km, 51km in eletric mode (highway in between). I did note that on a level road, doing 100kph on cruise control it was using 15kWh/100km, which tells me that I can get over 60km in optimal conditions of eletric usage on a full charge, which is preety good. Preety happy about it Last edited by joselrl; 01-28-2020 at 09:52 AM.. Reason: add pic |

After a month, I’ve never had 30km of electric range only. Worst case (very windy, heavier traffic) was 37km. Usual case 45 to 50km.

What? No, on real condition never had less than 40km on a full battery, over 60km at best case scenario (still in real world). What is misleading the the estimation on the dash, so many times it said like 15km remaining, after 15km of pure EV driving, it still said like 5km or more.

Hi guys. Thought id post some more thoughts as i have used the car a little more. now. Firstly, the range estimate is a load of chuff. It does less when travelling in traffic and stop starting and then more on longer journeys at a steady speed. I focused on that too much and i find it better to look at the percentage charge. 8 degs fully charged at home showing 21miles i have managed to get 36.9 miles once on electric individual only (no heating on, fan or preconditioning or radio or anything that could zap the battery) and then the second time i did it (this Monday) i managed to get 42.2 miles on electric only (14.1kwh/100km). That was 7.5miles through villages at about 30 to 40mph and then straight onto the a303 at sparkford towards london. I stayed at 50mph both times on the A303 just to see how far i got and the range kept adjusting up and up as i travelled. As a company car driver that claims 14p per miles back thats a great saving. The charge cost me 1.86 at home and i will be paid £5.90 for those miles. I have also charged it at work on the same trip for free and then again tonight at Tesco extra for free (tesco extras all seem to have podpoints that are free to use and Travelodge are planning to follow suit i think) so out of my 500 miles round trip i will make a tidy bit of profit of maybe £15. The key to this and sorry for shouting is TO TRY AND KEEP THE POWER/REGEN GAUGE AT 0, ie you are not using electrical power nor are you regenerating so the car is just freewheeling. I reckon i could get more miles at 40mph as there would be less air resistance but i wont be driving that slow. It was embarrasing having lorries overtake me but i did it for us guys lol..
I have found too that putting the car in eco pro individual increases the MPG when the engine is running as it allows you to freewheel. In standard mode you regen battery power when off the throttle which is a less efficient way of covering distance. The new Porsche Taycan uses this method and the Tesla has the option too. PS be careful if looking for `free` charging points as Ibis hotels claim its free but, if you download the app (chargemaster i think) there is a connection charge of £1.20 so you have to put your card details in. Then in the small print of the app it says that if you are plugged in for longer than 90 minutes you will be charged £10 per hour that you stay!! Tesco Extra Pod Points are free for up to 3 hrs so basically a full charge for nothing. Very savvy of them! |

So, now 3000 miles in after a trip to Liverpool yesterday. I managed 45mpg and 40 miles on electric in that 490 mile run with no chance to charge - using my usual “semi-spirited” driving style which is ok.
But 3000 miles in as I say - and I’ve averaged 61mpg across that time. If that’s what I have to look forward to over the lifetime of the car then I’m happy |

Hi Chuckyaria. Regen is about charging the battery up when slowing down but its still more efficient to let the car roll. If you are going down a hill and could get a mile free wheeling without having to touch the accelerator again you could get half a mile for instance if the car were braking and regenerating and this would be the same no matter what distance. At that point you are half a mile further back and need to use energy to get to the same point and i believe it will be more than if you just freewheeled. Of course having regen is useful because you cant freewheel around town so it will definately help with overall efficiency. Energy is always lost in a system via heat or sound or friction, thats why you can never get more energy than you put it (ie a given ml of fuel will have x energy and only a portion of that will be used to propel the car, the rest will be transferred to sound, friction or heat). Do some research. Perhaps look at why Porsche are not using regen as much on the Taycan. Im pretty sure im right but am still going to research it more.
Cranester. 61mpg is awesome. Ive been driving very carefully around the UK and over my 5 weeks and 3 trips of 600mileish i average about 52mpg in total. |
