Spark Plugs/Cabin Filter BMW service interval?
After some help on service intervals, have a 2020 G21 320i, it’s only got 29k miles on the clock and is due its second oil change based on every 2 years timing which it’s booked in for.
Just had an email & the app notification saying it’s also due spark plugs & microfilter… thought the schedule for this was 60k or 6 years but can’t find anything where it clarifies this & I know the intervals differ worldwide. I rang BMW who said it does indeed require a major service, spark plugs/microfilter & cabin filter too but she seemed unsure & I can find absolutely nothing online about it & just told me it’ll have done what’s requires when the vehicles with them, which doesn’t give me much faith. Also what’s strange is the in-car service requirement only shows oil change, but an email & BMW app notification show me the additional plugs/filters so not sure which is correct. It’s not a major issue as car has service inclusive, just want to check before it goes in as BMW seem clueless as do I on this one with no info on schedules being online & want to make sure it’s right whilst I’m not paying. Just after a bit of advice or anyone else with one of a similar age who hasn’t hit the mileage threshold or knows when they’re due. Thanks |

2020 330e here.
Regarding app notification vs idrive. That’s correct, it won’t tell you about spark plugs, filters etc. Just main service date / oil and brake fluid. My 3 year (major) service was done last year. Which included filters, plugs etc. Even though I’m hybrid, and around 70% of my driving is electric, plugs etc were all changed regardless as part of general maintenance and upkeep. My interval for major service now shows as march 2027 or in 49k km. Oil is 2 years or mileage whichever comes first. And brake fluid is 2 year regardless. |

The mileage/age rules doesn't always apply as the Condition Based Servicing (CBS) can and will will give different intervals depending on your driving habits etc. there's an older thread here with some other discussion on the topic.

Ah ok. I’m just going off what idrive tells me is my intervals.
To that point then, even though I mainly drive electric, I do not see my oil intervals changing regardless of whether electric motor or combustion engine is being used. So maybe different for hybrids too. |
