JB4 Map 2 Okay without a custom downpipe?

I got a JB4 for the G20 330i and I was wondering if it is okay to run Map 2 without getting a custom downpipe.

Some people say that it should only be done with 93+ octane and a downpipe, while others say that it is fine without a custom downpipe.

Does anyone know the real answer?

Thanks.

Depends on your fuel quality. With good 93 octane, you can run map 2 without a downpipe. I used to run map 3 with E85 thrown in. Now I run a map 6 with an ~E25-27 mixture with no other mods. Zero issues and car performs brilliantly.

Get a few logs in map 2 to evaluate (with 93 octane).

So would it be a "no" with 91?

Also, how should I read JB4 logs? Is there any abnormalities I should be looking for?

Plus, isn't Map 3 only for methanol injection?

So is it incompatible with 91 octane?

By custom downpipe, I mean a third party one, whether it's a high flow catted or catless

By datalog do you mean use the "Start Logging" button on JB4? I've done that a couple of times and have a couple of logs but I don't know what I am supposed to be looking for/what I am looking at lol. Is there anyone at Burger Tuning I should be sending the logs to?

you need to run the car from 2000RPM to redline with traction control completely off

You can post the log here or you can save the CSV file and send it to BMS. Their email is on their website

Map 2 and 91 would be tough. There's a very good chance you'll have timing drops. With 91, you're probably stuck with map 1.
