Buttons near gear selector don't work

Hey guys, this is my first post on here. I have a 2020 330i and I noticed my traction off button, parking sensor, and auto start/stop off button all don’t work. They press fine, although it feels a little sticky, but no response from the car. I’ll attach a picture of the buttons in case you’re unsure which ones. Has anyone experienced this or know of a fix? I don’t want to replace the entire gear selector so was wondering if anyone had an idea on what to do? Much appreciated thanks!

Did you spill anything and/or detail in that area? Have seen reports that this isn't uncommon if any of the preceding have happened.

@prostcfc No spills or detail done there, Although it is used so previous owner might have. Is that something that maybe contact cleaner could fix or is it too late for something like that?

Steezychris maybe, but I'd be cautious. This is all one piece, so it doesn't look like you can just remove a button and clean precisely https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=61_6142. If those systems actually didn't work, you should see some sort of warning on iDrive, and I would expect a code if you scanned; also, your parking sensors wouldn't work at all, which is easily verifiable. But my guess is something spilled, given all three buttons with the same ingress points don't work, and you say they're "sticky".

Those buttons are both mechanical (whole plate) and capacitive, which is used to determine which button your finger is pressing.

prostcfc damn yeah I was considering removing the gear selector to see if I can remove that button and clean it. Seems like my only option is to replace the entire gear selector which I really didn’t want to do. I’ve gotten the traction control button to work literally just once by continuously pressing it but no luck on any other button, also no codes when I scan with Bimmerlink

Also having the same problem. Have taken out the center console once already, and had a look at how it works - it's just a thin ribbon cable which must be detecting when each of the 4 buttons are pressed via capacitive touch. Could not see any obvious damage and I did give the ribbon cable a rub down with isopropyl, but no luck.

There are no error codes either, so I'm thinking it must just be a dodgy connector. Ideally would like to see if I can replace just that ribbon cable, so may see if I can pick up a broken center console unit for parts, but I'm going to take it a part one more time, just to see if re-seating the connector fixes it.

Same problem started for me this week. Waiting for a call back from the dealer to schedule an appointment.
It's not completely dead. When I pull my gear selector into sport shifting then the auto start/stop light is turning on.

Michel--NL Any update from your visit to the dealer? I called up and apparently they don't sell individual parts, they can only replace the whole unit which is around £950

Car was in for a oil service two weeks ago and they wanted to replace it with a new part. With opening the box they found out that the replacement part was for a car with the steering wheel on the left side That's not going to work on my car with the steering wheel on the right side.

Called the dealer this week to ask how it is with the new part.
BMW told the dealer it was the correct part, dealer says no, BMW says yes, etc.
Told them that it is not my problem what BMW says and I just want it fixed. A few ours later they called back and now I have an appointment for the 23th of September.

I'm not sure what they are going to replace (forgot to ask). Will ask it on the 23th.
BTW my car is still under warranty.

Did you try the holding the button for 3-6 seconds?

BoomLiam Today was the day and finally it's all working again. I really missed the start/stop and Sport button
They replaced the complete unit, without the carbon parts surrounding the unit.
I asked what the problem was and they had no clue. The faulty part is going to be send to BMW, probably for some investigation of what the problem is.
