Does anyone have an issue where they are unable to change songs using the control on your wheel?

Carplay connects with no issues, I can use it on the infotainment screen, but on my dashboard the song does not display correctly (says Unknown Artist, Unknown Song) and I can't change the song with my wheel control. Sometimes I can disconnect my phone and reconnect and it will be fixed and other times there's no issues.. Minor problem, but annoying nonetheless.

My BMW is fully updated and so is my iPhone.

Happens to me too occasionally. On 11/2023.73 Idrive and iPhone 13 Pro Max iOS 17.5.1. Don’t know if it’s an Idrive or iOS issue. Only way I’ve been able to “fix” it is by disconnecting phone/carplay through idrive and then reconnecting it.

Yeah, I did a little bit of research and there is a thread on an Apple forum. Pretty sure it's an iOS issue. Sometimes reconnecting doesn't fix the issue, but I'm going to try to a fresh pair. All out of ideas.

Same issue frequently pops up. 2024 330i US with latest iDrive OS and iPhone 13 Pro with latest iOS.

I experienced this too. I think it started after the last 1 or 2 updates, or it could be related to an app update in the vehicle (I know I've gotten a few app updates recently). It doesn't happen too often but when it does its pretty annoying.

Hopefully another update comes along to fix it.

2021 G20 - been happening sporadically since I got it. Only way to fix is to restart the car. Sometimes disconnecting-reconnecting fixes it. I think it’s an IOS issue.

My fix is just just have the scroll wheel in the next song arrow so I can just click it that way. Kinda frustrating but it is what it is.

I use apple airpods (for the noise cancellation) if I’m driving on the motorway i.e.70MPH+ and I find if my iPhone connects to my AirPods first, then CarPlay has issues with Spotify controls.

I just use “Siri next track” or “Siri play Engelbert Humperdinck” or “Lamb of God” etc.. voice commands if I’ve got them in.

All you have to do is just reconnect your wifi on your phone! Just pull down the control center, click on the wifi button twice to turn off then on again and it should work!
