Parking sensor error and a question

So I'm getting this error (see pics).

I cleaned them off (not that they were dirty) and the error persists. its showing all of them, is this normal that if say one is broken the whole lot of them will show, or should I take this as a systemic failure?

I did notice a super tiny nick in one of the front bumper ones (the black ones)

What do you think one bad one or the whole system is down?

I don't know if one faulty sensor would be indicated on the screen, but scanning for fault codes should. First step could be to activate the system and feel lightly with a finger if all pulsate.

Having the same problem. Given the system disables all parking sensors when one is “dirty” would you still be able to use this method?

Don't know if it's the same on a BMW but it worked on an Audi. Easy to try even though it might not isolate the problem.

So I just went through a similar ordeal. Never got the message about one of the sensors being dirty.

What I was experiencing was if the car was baking in the afternoon summer sun, the sensors would quit working with the same check control error message.

Had to go back and forth with the dealer on this as it was difficult to have them repro it. Once they did, they replaced ALL the parking sensors, and it hasnt come back.

The technician was telling me that when one sensor starts to go bad, it usually takes the rest of them out with it, which is why they replaced all the sensors.

I also think its odd the check control error shows 6 sensors front and rear, when the car only has 4 sensors front and rear.

Of note, and something that would have helped the dealer diagnosis. They were fighting to get a repro, and I had to get it to repro for them. Once they saw the check control error message, they mentioned the car keeps a log of check control errors, and they could have pulled that. It wasnt clear to them that the error showed up as a check control message.

So if you have this, have them check the check control error message history, and that should be enough to get them moving.

Mine problem was a small hit it took by a rock. Almost impossible to see. So the one sensor disabled the whole array.

$850 fix, but I had a coupon.... So $750... just for one sensor!!! Ouch
