These are the figures from the HMRC app, although for a correct figure it should be 41% tax rate.
So 8% looks to be right.
I didn't contact HMRC nor did my employer they Just set it at that rate themselves.

That is really interesting to see. I have a 330e MS with a P11D of £44670. I notice that they have the Zero emission mileage on my account as 24 miles. HMRC charge me 14% BIK and after 2 letters and several phone calls (Many that I have had to abandon being on hold for 40 minutes or more) at present wont budge!

I just cant seem to get through to anyone to get this sorted.

I've just got this from the dealer for mine, Park Lane BMW. I've redacted the account guys name though. However it does quote the NEDC figure for deliveries before April 20. HTH.

So it is the NED or WLTP value that HMRC base their calculations on? Mine is a pre-April vehicle.

330e M Sport 2019 8% BIK

So heres my experience. 330e Msport Registered October 2019 . No added options running on 18" wheels with a list price of £39075

Cars registered pre April 6th 2020 use NEDC data not WLTP.

I obtained the CoC certificate of conformity for my vehicle by e mailing a request to eccoc@bmw.co.uk . Following an e mail exchange and the requirement to fill in a form and prove ownership i had the CoC in hand within 5 days via e mail.

The Certificate states that the electric range for my vehicle is 66km ( 41 miles )

HMRC clearly state here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/company-...480-appendix-2 that a car with a 41 mile electric range and a 37g/km emissions figure should be 8% BIK.

So provided you supply the correct data to HMRC there should be no ambiguity. In the main the difficulties people are experiencing are a result of varying electric mile range advice online , and no clear published figures per car model.

Thats not surprising. Its impossible to publish a catch all BIK figure as adding additional weight via options and varying specification on your order form can result in a changed BIK.

Elsewhere i have read incorrectly that an SE model with smaller wheels is the only car which falls within the 8% bracket. That is not the case.

That said if you add say the plus pack to the vehicle which gives 19 inch wheels and perhaps adds weight , you MAY find that the certificate of conformity for your vehicle puts the electric only range down to below 66km which would place it in the 12% bracket.

Every car is different and the CoC is issued based on chassis number.

Request yours and look up the table then you will know for sure. BMW issued the CoC free of charge. It is worthwile doing this. If your car falls into 8% territory you save 1/3rd. on my specific vehicle this means £104 per month deduction at the wageslip instead of £156 if it had been 12% BIK.

16% is £7128 - what I was paying in FY19
14% is £6238 - what I've been paying since April '20
10% is £4428 - what they've told me I will pay going forward, with rebate for over payment to date
8% is £3542 - what I should perhaps pay??

Will try and get the official cert from the supplying dealer and see where that leads.
Sorry the delay in responding...

Should be 8%, assuming the CoC confirmed the 41 miles all electric range based on NEDC. Yes, it was Arval in my case. Problem was twofold. 1) They'd misunderstood the pre April tax was based on electric range too. 2). Not got the electric range off manufacturers.

Same issue. Considering they're meant to be administering the scheme I thought it was pretty piss poor. They wouldn't admit anything was wrong until I got our HR involved via a formal complaint.

I'm now waiting for my conformity cert and will have another go. I'm paying 10% going forward (and due a refund in next months pay) but from reading on here I think it should be 8%.

Is yours an M Sport or an M sport Plus (19" wheels)?

I have the M Sport on 18s - bog standard.

Initially they said I was wrong and the 14% was right. I had to push and push to get them to realise I was right.

My Car is a standard M sport with No additional options. However i have been assisting a colleague today who has a higher spec car than me, also registered pre April 2020. His is a way higher spec than mine its a Plus edition 45k car with adaptive on 19" wheels. He sent for his CoC and it came back with an all electric range of 64km. That equates to 39.7 miles.

Our first reaction was , ah well we tried..its below the 40 miles mark needed to get into the 8% BIK..however we looked further into it.

The 12% BIK rate applies up to 39 miles...the 8% from 40 miles..so where does that leave 39.7 miles ?

HMRC themselves answer this deep in their rules. They state that where a CoC shows all electric range in Km a conversion to miles must be made. When this conversion is made it should be rounded UP to the nearest whole mile.

Therefore his car qualifies for 8% BIK with a 64km range on the CoC. Following this rule a 63km CoC electric range which is 39.1 miles would also be rounded up to the nearest mile and would qualify for 8% BIK.

Thanks, mine is an M Sport Plus just under £45k so we'll see what the conformity thing says but sounds promising! Not that I've had any response from my dealer. Guess they might be starting up again today...

PaulBhoy - massive thanks for this

Emailed (with a copy of the V5 obtained from Lex Autolease portal) and got the CoC next day - just been on to the tax office and got my BIK down to 8%.

Much appreciated mate, thanks for taking the time to post the full details.

Just took delivery of my 330e M Sport (M Sport Plus, Premium & Harmon Kardon).
Phoned HMRC yesterday, they changed my tax code and gave me a Bik of 10%.

That's correct. Your cars range is measured on WLTP. 11% next year and 12% year after that...

Waiting for mine to arrive tomorrow. Ordered in March as a company lease.

Noticed list price has shot up now as its £42,440 with privacy and metallic. I'm pretty sure metallic was free before?

Mine has been registered as of June though and I've just updated my details with HMRC - Going to be a huge saving over my 2018 Golf GTI Performance.

Looking forward to it arriving now.
