But have you managed to download and install it without it stalling?

I'd be interested to know which version you were on prior to this if you happen to know.

I've had the same prompt. Downloaded to my phone but not had chance to transfer to car yet. Previous version was 11.2022.60 I believe

Previously 11/2022.60 I think.
Downloaded fine, transferred fine.
Upgrading now. 33% so far.

EDIT: yeah, just checked. Was definitely 11/2022.60. That only upgraded about a month ago. Seemed to take ages to kick in.

EDIT: seemed to upgrade fine. A few warnings about auto start/stop busted in-between finishing upgrade and iDrive powering off when complete (which is pretty dumb as you sit around wondering if it's finished or not), but apart from that. All OK on the face on it. So far.

Thanks for confirming that, mine is on 03/2022.57 so you would have thought it would be "due" the upgrade if yours only recently upgraded to 11/2022.

I do find this a little frustrating, my previous car (F40 M135i) had an issue with bugged software which was apparently preventing the Remote Upgrade to work so would be surprised if this was a similar issue too.

Not noticed anything. And the Release Notes mention absolutely nothing in terms of improvements... not that I could see anyway.

This is about as informative as it gets.... the rest is just disclaimers and explaining about what will and won't work during the upgrade.

Had the prompt and downloaded the update to my phone, but as always the car doesn’t want to start the update.

I’m in the same boat. Phone downloaded the update, successfully transferred to car and car now just says it will tell me when it is ready to install. How long should this take? If it does not install in the car is there anything I can do to push it through or is it a dealer visit?

It should prompt you at the end of the next trip you take, when the messages pop up after pressing stop. However I suspect you are now in that unknown of having to wait for all the pre-reqs to be met. Level ground, battery SoC, a south westerly wind etc etc

It will do it when it wants there seems to be no rhyme nor reason as to why it takes so long for some people and others like me where it downloaded to car and end of next trip on same day installed to car.

Indeed. Uploaded from my phone to the car on the drive with the engine idling and it installed as soon as I turned it off. The car hadn't even moved.

Maybe one day one of the BMW software team will have the bright idea of issuing a warning saying which of the installation prerequisites, as spelt out in the User Guide, isn't being met.

I'm also one of the lucky ones, I was notified on my 'phone yesterday that an update was available, and I managed to install it without any issues. Despite being told that the transfer from 'phone to car would only occur when driving, I just left car ticking over in my garage for 15 minuites or so.

I can't say I've noticed any differences/improvements. It did remove the iDrive Engine Sound menu option that allows me to control the exhaust valve which I had added using Bimmercode, but that was easily reinstated.

Hi I presume you have a current subscription to connected drive as I believe it will only update OTA if you have one if not then I believe it may be a trip to the dealer. You could try deleting the app and installing it again.

I’m also stuck on 03/22 or something. Got the car June 2022 and have never had any upgrades appear. Took it to the dealership for the service and they said it was up to date, but clearly didn’t try any harder than just running the search in iDrive.

glad to see im not the only one stuck in limbo land of wondering if / when / if the gods decide that my software update will start.. even bought a battery charger to make sure the battery was topped right off

Mine did the upgrade straight away. Maybe the ‘e’ cars keep their 12V in a more topped-up state?
