Mine updated after a 30 minute drive.

This update os doing my head in. I'm on second attempt at it. First update loaded to car and then refused to install - car eventually forgot. I then did a second time and in same position. Car's battery at 12.2v (I charged over night with CTEK charger on two occasions to see if it made a difference).

This is the first time Ive had an issue - previous ones have worked fine.

No idea what the problem is tbh.

Its not just you, I've had the same experience, and never really had a problem before.

The only difference for me is that this is the first time I get a software update after doing some coding, so not sure if that is the problem.

Hopefully this second time it triggers at some point.

Coding shouldn't be a problem. I've updated a few times over last few years and all it does is remove your coding which you just put back on.

still not updated, so cars back on the charger after being sat in it with ista seeing why it wont start the upgrade, it vaugely mentions the car preconditions and customer preconditions not met but doesnt really delve much further into it (altho my battery shows 67% so hoping its that)

one thing it did show was the preconditions for the customer

Gradient below 12%
Selector lever position P engaged
Trailer disconnected
No device connected to the diagnostic socket
parking assistant inactive
neutral detected
No CD/DVD/BLU-RAY inserted in front drive

ive switched off park assist in the hope that will kick it in now (clutching at straws)

I don't understand - in your list it is saying gear lever should be in park but later down it states neutral?

Mine hasnt let me upgrade either. Not sure I want to considering I hear it muffles the cars exhaust. I dont think an upgrade has been downloaded since 2020 on my car.

im assuming the car see's park as neutral (that was just the list ista gave me when looking into the error codes)

I didn’t switch off park assist before my upgrade worked.

Does you Stop / Start work if not that is a signal the battery is not sufficiently charged and therefore the update will not start. Try a good run on local roads with braking and coasting this should charge up the battery and once the stop / start is working hopefully the update will commence.

you can force the car to forget the update pretty easy, in the data privacy bit turn off remote software upgrade, then back on, it will say its unavailable but after a little while itll come back and allow you to search again

yeah start stop works fine, i went out and bought a battery charger and got the car upto 99% (according to bimmerlink) and the dam thing still wouldnt kick in..

23-03 contains absolutely nothing new for idrive 7 cars ( check the imprint , you might be surprised it’s actually still 11/22 ! ), but does bring bug fixes and support for newer versions of certain hardware units
