Downpipe questions

I am thinking of getting a catless downpipe for my 2020 m340i. I am wondering what all the downsides of the check engine light caused by the downpipe are. I have heard mixed things about issues with comfort access, possibly not being able to turn off DTC? or other concerns about fuel trims or limp mode. If anyone with more experience can let me know what I should actually worry about and what I should ignore, that would be great, Im new to this platform.

Downsides are a check engine light, no remote start due to the check engine light, and a more pronounced exhaust smell. That’s about it. Pros are a much better exhaust sound, turbo sounds, and slightly more power even without a tune. I did it for about a month before I got tuned. Car ran great, 0 issues.

You’ll be fine without tune, I ran a catless dp no tune on my 23 for like a year and it was fine.

I know with the CEL you can’t use remote start but what if you clear the code? Would you then be able to remote start your vehicle as long as you have cleared the code or will it still be restricted as the vehicle still senses no cats?

You codes (and CEL) will come back rather quickly, so it's irrelevant. Not sure how long the monitor takes to ready, but it won't take too long.

unless you clear the code with a flash tune which keeps it off, its not worth doing it manually as it will come back every 50 miles or so
