It is hard to tell from photos. I'll let others chime in, however, I just received my first "low coolant" warning on my 22 m340i 2 weeks ago, at approximately 18k miles. Based on the image, it appears to be fine. I can tell you from my experience, my coolant was not even visible at the yellow marker.

Yes it's hard to get the right pictures... however looking at the other coolant tank I could see the difference and I need to top it off a bit!
What's the car does with the coolant if there's no leak? Does it evaporate? or get lost in translation... |

Others have suggested replacing the cap, and for some this has worked. You can also have the dealer pressure check the system.

1.) When the water pump seal goes bad, it passes a pressure test when not running, and only fails when running 2.) The water pump is designed to allow for a small amount of coolant to leak out, and then evaporate in a special holding area. https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1962556

Wanted to bump this thread for clarification and to see what you all are doing… ‘22 m340i mh with 19k miles and low coolant warning. Are you guys using the traditional blue bmw coolant or the HT-12 green coolant? 50/50 coolant / distilled water mix or 100% coolant?

I agree with @lebarron. I picked up a jug of OEM coolant from the dealership, and it’s the green coolant. And yes you mix it 50/50 with distilled water.

Got a low coolant warning on my 2020 today. 44.7K miles on the odometer. Picked up a gallon at the dealership, but it was blue. From the looks of it, the main expansion tank had blue in there, but the smaller reservoir had green. Car only took like a 3 1/4 cups of 50/50 mix, so wasn’t egregiously low. Nothing noticeable around the area either.
