I've been given a Kia Cerato to drive for a few weeks by insurance.

I know it's a rent-a-car but the old engine in that thing is not good. Rough and bad on fuel. It actually uses as much as the B48 but with much less power and sounding very bad doing so. The rest of the package is OK for the price (room, stops, goes, steers OK, suspension tunes OK).
Yuk!
Should have asked for a Stinger!

It's an OK car but that engine completely ruins it.

At least my old SP25 Mazda revved cleanly/liked a rev and encouraged a bit of fun.

I had the pleasure of a Kia Rio for a couple of days...1/5th the price, 1/5th the car

They said they could replace the windscreen without breaking the sensors. I'll be curious to see what happens. If they break it, I'm not paying extra!

Normal practice in the trade, you remove the sensor from the old screen and install it in the new one.

Yeah, I thought so too but apparently this is what they do if you do it via a dealer or BMW Body Shop.

I wonder if they order the part paid for by the customer's insurance and only use the new part if they break the old one and just pocket the new one (if I'm being cynical).

I just had a windshield replaced at my local dealer and they replaced the sensor, 10 bump stops, top cover and the sound insulation. They also charged me for adhesive, shop fees and $300 in labor. The total price was almost $2200.

I submitted the invoice to my insurance company. Hopefully they will cover everything.

I'm going through the dealer and no sensor replacement... on the quote anyway. It isn't done yet.

I'm pretty sure that's my new windscreen in that big box with the 'Fragile' tape.

My windscreen is replaced and paid for by insurance. $2450 by BMW and they didn't replace the sensors. Everything looks good so far.

It’s a pretty best trick (limited to 3 goes every 2 hours).

For example I know that replaced the screen this morning and not yesterday.

All done. Repair looks fine. Original bmw marked unit.

Oddly when I drove off the system said it was calibrating or collecting info. I was a bit concerned. It said some functions not available until it’s done collecting info. Was that for 5 mins then I engaged assisted driving and about a min later it all came back online and the warning didn’t come back. They drove the car 4km during the replacement, probably to test the driving assistant.

Another observation is that the glass is better than my original. My original al has a slight shimmer at acute angles. This one doesn’t.

I have had the misfortune of two windscreen replacements on my M2. Both times by the original dealer and at $1,300. Most of concern is all the technology that the cars have today attached to the windscreen...both times the job was excellent.
That's as very reasonable price from the dealer - and this is obviously a factory oem windscreen?

Was that a special or discounted price they gave for you there?

Hi
I didn't ask for any special price they quoted and I accepted and they said it was OE.
O'Briens told me theirs was not OE and price was not much better.
Both times the job was excellent, no issues.
