My car just gave me the low oil level warning, I'm not even at 4,800 miles. With the sunroof rattling + nav issues I've already had the car in the dealer multiple times. Not happy at all

My sunroof rattles too. Other than that no issues w oil consumption yet. Hoping there's a permanent solution to fix sunroof rattle and they address the oil usage issues. I'd imagine w this many people complaining they'll get a TSB on it soon

I had them lubricate the sunroof and it is a million times better. Time will tell if it lasts.

Digging around for more info on this excessive oil-burning issue and what I've gather, from the F22 and F30 B58 section, is there is a correlation between vehicles that used more "pops and burbles" overrun and said oil usage.

I know in M340i, Sport+; the burbles is on MAX, so there's that..

Sorry to be so vague on the details but shooting in the dark, if someone with a toggle-able tune, could measure the oil burning, with and without the burbles on/off and see how it effect on oil usage, we would be able to confirm or disprove this theory..

I don't have a G20, but an F30 and have heard/read of similar issues with N20/26 engines as well as N55 engines. I'm wondering if this is a by-product of going with a thinner viscosity oil, which all manufactures are doing in attempts to increase fuel economy. These cars are coming with 0w-20 as a factory fill now, yes? Depending on the dealer you're going to, I'm wondering if they have switched from 0w-30/5w-30 to 0w-20 in their service departments, and I'm wondering if those that aren't experiencing issues aren't because their dealers have continued using a -30 oil instead of switching to a -20.

I use a -40 in my N20 powered car and have never had consumption issues, and I change my oil ~6k miles. Maybe it's too simplistic, but I'm wondering if the higher viscosity oil would solve, or at least help ameliorate the issue here? I've always felt that the thinner viscosity oils aren't thick enough to properly cool and lubricate the bearings on the turbo compressor/turbine shaft, or provide adequate lubrication in general if one tends to give their car a good flogging on a pretty regular basis. Turbos can peak at anywhere from 80,000 to 250,000 RPMs depending on the design and application. That seems like a lot of heat and a lot of friction, both of which can cause oil consumption by "burning" away oil. I hope that's not the case here as that would result in coking on the turbo bearings, which usually leads to per-mature "death" of the turbo.

Hope BMW gets this sorted out. My old 2004 Jeep TJ with 260k miles didn't consume a single drop of oil, and I changed the oil in that thing every 10k miles from the first oil change; synthetic oil of course. I think it's unacceptable for any modern car to have this issue.

I'll be coming up on ~3k miles soon in the M340i and no issues like this to report on my end so far. Only "issue" is sun roof rattle during colder temps. Drive in sports plus 90% of the time.

Love this vehicle and highly recommend to anybody considering it. Don't let the low engine oil warning deter you!

Just had to add oil a second time and I'm at about 14,500. Yesterday I received an alert of low and then below minimum oil levels on a road trip in the middle of no where. Was very frustrating. I bought an extra quart to keep in my car now. Shouldn't be doing this with a brand new car.

Just got the same issue here. Mine is at 3890 miles.

How far I can drive like this? I've an appointment tomorrow but I need to use the car today. Drove only 5 miles since the low level warning came up and will drive like 20 miles today.

~6.5k miles on my 6 month old lease; low oil warning at ~1k miles, second warning at ~4.5k miles. Needed 1 full quart both times. Not sure if it has something to do with my love affair with Sport + mode and WOT....

13k miles / 21000km over 1 year on G20 330i, it asks for 1 liter of oil now, which will be done though service package by bmw. I heared somewhere that if you are too polite to care during burnin the piston rings wont sit properly, so I made car enjoy its real life use since 0km.

Update: I am currently 400 miles away from 12k and the light appeared this AM. Guess I will just keep an extra bottle in the trunk moving forward.

....aaaand my 3rd low oil warning at ~7.5k miles. Almost positive now that it has something to do with my "spirited" driving

My oil quantity is still at max level after 4500 miles. I will admit to driving very conservatively for the first 1200 miles and still haven't launched the car.

So I really hope this does not get buried. 2020 M340i. Car has a little over 5,000 miles on it. Had to top it off twice before taking it in. They said the reason was because there was a leak at the oil filter assembly. The fix was to replace the bolts and tighten them to specs. Sounded like they had seen this before.

Hi guys, new member here and I’m at 3700 miles and my 2020 M340 XDrive is also giving me the low engine oil warning, going in on Tuesday to the dealership to have them top it off and make sure everything is good.
I do drive hard and launched my car often.
I drive it like the ultimate driving machine I bought it for
Let’s just hope the issues stops and I keep enjoying my car.
I am surprised they advertise service at 10k miles for engine oil change yet you can’t even get half way through and get an engine oil message.
