m340i Held at Port for Recall (20V-761)

My m340i made it to port 12/01 and was originally scheduled for dealer delivery 12/06, 12/05 it got held at the port because of a stop sale relating to recall 20V-761, which hasn't even hit the NHSTA site yet...

I was able to get a bit more info today, it seems it's to do with the 48-volt battery terminals and they've yet to determine a fix.

Anyone else caught up in this recall? Anyone been stuck at port for a recall before so I have an idea of range of timeframe? I only found one other thread, that (luckily? only?) took two weeks to sort.

Oh, and just a heads up other 2021 m340i owners, you may have a recall bulletin coming though maybe it's only German builds? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My car was in transit and at port over the last two weeks from Mexico, was never held up at port for recall issues, it was delivered to dealership yesterday and I am taking delivery tomorrow.

I have recall on my 2021 G21 340d that I got in Sept 2020. It has a 48 volt system. The recall is to check the terminal connection to the starter motor. Apparently there is a risk the car may fail to start.

Haven't got around to booking it in yet.

Sounds like the one! Probably don't have to rush to book it, they don't have a fix yet - or an ETA on one - from the little I've been able to find out.

I've seen a bunch getting delivered still in a few of the other threads, all of the one's that mentioned where they were built were Mexico, so I'm thinking maybe the issue only with the the German builds. Maybe a bad batch of terminals or something...

No issues. Mine was at the port all last week. It's on a truck and supposed to be getting dropped off at the dealer right now.

I don't have any open recalls, Mexico build in October. Maybe just a Germany thing? There was a starter issue that sounded close but that was just a single production day. Interested in what the fix is.

It's with the 48V terminals, so that sounds like it's probably the "starter issue."

Here's a screen cap of the recall notice from the BMW site...

It’s rather non-specific, but the NHTSA site finally had documents up. It’s a pretty specific range of dates and only affect like 800 some odd cars.

Here’s all the docs I’ve found though...

Looks like 25 G20 units were affected? But a relatively simple fix. Hopefully yours gets released ASAP.

Seems so, check the connections and put on new nuts, if needed. I refresh the VIN check every so often to see if it's been closed yet 🙈
