Hi All,
Trying to place an order for an M340 xdrive.
Worked out somewhat of an acceptable deal, agreed to place an order, did not receive anything to sign, got the following response form the dealer.
The order is placed in the order bank but it won’t pick allocation until January since allocating production numbers is done for the rest of the year
I've placed orders before and always received some sort of a document confirming it. But not this time.
Does this seem legit, or is the dealer out of allocations and just hoping to make it work next year?
I dealt with these guys before and they've been straight forward in the past, but something is making me cautious this time around.

Sounds like they're out of allocations and hoping to make it work next year. I had a similar issue when I ordered my X5 and the dealer kept giving me the runaround about how the factory was retooling for the 2020 models (back in 2019), which I knew was not true. If a dealer doesn't have allocations, from my understanding they can request one from another dealer that does... they just have to pick up the phone and do a bit of legwork.

After 2 weeks with no production number I ended up requesting to cancel my order, and placed with another dealer who got me a production number same day (this new dealer also didn't have an allocation at the time but were able to make it work by requesting it from another dealer). In a last ditch attempt to keep my business, the original dealership magically got me a production number very soon after I requested a cancellation.
