2021 M340i... to MPE, or not to MPE?
I am debating whether to have M performance exhaust port installed on my upcoming factory order. I want to be able to pull out of my neighborhood and not sound like a jackass but also want burps and burbles on this *leased* car without having to do an aftermarket install/uninstall before returning the lease. Anyone who has that exhaust, can it be made to sound reasonably quiet in comfort mode when not riding it hard, or is it always balls to the wall loud? I definitely want the sound on the open road.

In comfort it is VERY quiet. However, if you live in a sensitive neighborhood or leave to work early in the morning, just know that the cold starts are very loud and putting it in comfort doesn't change that. Once it settles down, it's awesome.
Also you have this in the B48 area...maybe want to move it to the B58 engine part of the forum.

I agree with Burrcold. I thought I would get one too, but now that I have driven it a bit I might just keep it stock. I have a 21. It definitely is relative. Coming from my 330i it is much louder and for a DD it is perfect. Not to say I will never install an aftermarket one, but it is definitely a solid sound for stock pipes...

I'm looking in my VIN decoder and BMW configuration and I do not see MPE as a separate item.
I just assume it is standard on M340i. In Sport+ it pops like machine gun every time I lift from the throttle at any RPM. A bit excessive in my view, but about right in Sport. No modes on my car. |
