Can you run VIN WBA73AP08MCG01730 in ETK? I pulled that from a 430i at a dealer near where we used to live. It has black Sensatec.

The pictures are really dark, but I can see the pads: https://www.bmwoffairfax.com/new/BMW...f1307e53fc.htm
The VIN is giving me 51 16 6 997 205 and 51 16 6 997 207 for part numbers for these pieces and are on intergalactic backorder. So these are the sensatec or leather pads.

51 16 6 997 207 and 51 16 6 997 205 which are the leather pads I posted above. These sell for around $250.00 ea. I don't think I'll be ordering any at this point.
Nice. Do you know the part numbers for the black leather with blue stitching?

I haven't seen part numbers as of yet. But they should be available.

Ok, do you know of any suppliers who sell them online?

Not really. However I went to the BMW HQ in Bornem (Belgium) where I had the opportunity to take a look at an M3 with this option. Those leather pieces would be an awesome upgrade over those hard plastic ones. The mid console tunnel is the same as on the G20. I noted down the VIN number, but the sales person couldn’t guarantee that they would fit ... . So it’s a matter of taking the hit.

On any of the online BMW parts shops I cannot find the specific parts to order ...

Yeah, it doesn't look like any European based online parts sources list the pads. Most US based shops do. They're charging $180-200 each. Fortunately, I have relatively easy access to getting stuff from the US. So yes, it's a matter of just pulling the trigger and hoping I get lucky.

Does anyone have a good DIY for this install?

There are a handful of simple OEM Plus type cosmetic "mods" I'd like to do while still under warranty. Once that's up I'll move on to the performance side.

For the DIY guide we can look to:
https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...7&d=1594639690

And/or a short youtube clib to remove center console trim. Looks straight forward ...

From where would you order?

www.oempartsource.com has 51-16-6-997-205 for $171 and 51-16-6-997-207 for $186.

Thanks for the DIY link.

The lack of a knee guard was probably the biggest aesthetic and ergonomic issue I had with the g20. I mean, cars that are multiple segments below the G20 have something other than hard plastic there.

I would try this first but I'm so mechanically disinclined that I couldn't be trusted to even know if the fit was wrong or my installation was wrong. So hopefully someone will take the plunge soon.

I did. The CF insert is a matte finish not shiny like the M3.

The alcantara knee pads don't come into play for me though.

I bought the sport rear splitter, CF spoiler, MPE and side skirts. Doing it again, I'd opt to save the $1,335 and get the open pore wood insert instead.

Looks like the leather padded trim isn't listed as fitting the G20. If the basic plastic piece fits the padded piece should as well.
How did you get the parts for the G22 ? The online version doesn't list the G22 for some reason.

Helmet is correct I do work in a parts department at a large BMW dealer. I still want to retrofit these to mine.

I'm curious to see if the LCI G20/G21 will get the padded knee pieces next year.

If it's just the kneepads you are after then the part number as mentioned by youngsandwich is what your after.

Hello everyone!

Not sure if you guys would be interested but we actually have this knee piece finished in Italian alcantara and it fits exactly to OEM spec. It's attached using 3M double sided tape. I know there's some doubt when it comes to 3M, but our customers have installed our interior trim without any issues and the quality is incredible. It's a great option compared to the OEM replacement trim. We're still working on a full replacement but if any of you are interested in the Alcantara pieces or carbon interior trim just give us a PM and we'll set up an order for you. Price is $125 shipped within US/Canada.

Cheers!

automodz, These are really nice. I wish someone would offer aftermarket black leather knee pads.
