Cost of Ownership 330i vs M340i?

With regards to leasing either a 330i or an M340i, is there any significant difference in cost of ownership (aside from the initial price difference)? Is the fuel economy of a 330i much better, and is insurance cheaper than the M340i?

Looks like the fuel economy is only a 3 mpg difference. In my case the quote for the M340 was 50% higher than for the 330i.

My insurance quote was within 10% and I have gotten 28 mpg since new with lot of spirited driving...had a 330 loaner....huge performance difference...

If you're debating both, get the M340 and don't look back! I still average around 22mpg and drive mostly in sports + and you can get great deals on the M340 too if you're leasing

While the M340i is exceptional! I have a 330i downpipe, charge pipe, stage 2 BM3 and it is very fast for my liking. I was quoted nearly $210 more on insurance for a M340i so I just went with a 330.

Go for the M340i. M340i adds enough sport and driver focus to make the difference. The power helps but it's not just that.

Fuel economy is significantly to marginally better than my E90 335i. I've seen as high as a 28 MPG average in mixed driving and as low as a 22 MPG average in the same conditions. My E90 averaged out to 21.1 MPG with 80 HP down and near 300 lbs less, so I call that progress!

Highway fuel economy on the 330i is impressive. I fretted over the choice before ordering a 330i. My first trip in the car after picking it up Friday was across the state of Florida to bring it home and the car averaged 43 MPG. Fuel is cheap and the difference in cost of ownership for an M340i would not affect me, but I like the idea of such efficiency from a car that is still quick enough for my daily drives.
Insurance difference is negligible in my area. We have an M4CS and I just returned a 540i. The spread in 6-month policies between the three cars is less than $100.
