M440i ordered today!

Well, I’m no longer just a bimmerpost interloper. This afternoon I bit the bullet and ordered a new 4er. Okay, no flames, it’s my car!. I like the car and have been looking at cars for several months now. A couple weeks ago I drove the M340i and enjoyed it a lot.

Yeah, I could have ordered a new C8 Corvette for almost the same price, but... I just turned 69 and needed a fresh sporty daily driver that will accommodate my Chocolate Lab puppy often and wife occasionally, so I’m pretty stoked about the compromise. I can always pull my 67 out of the garage for a Corvette or MT fix. Need an SUV, drive the wives Caddy XT5.

My build is tentatively scheduled for week 39, so I might actually see the car by November:

Arctic Race Blue over Black Leather with Blue Stitching.
Parking Assist Package
Executive Package
797 Bi-Color Wheels with mixed runflats
Red Calipers
Adaptive Suspension
Aluminum Mesh Trim
Harmon Kardon
Wireless Charging

The only mods I’m considering at the moment are dumping the runflats for Michelin Pilot Sport A/s 3+, swapping the cerium mirror caps for body color, and getting the shiny nuggets out of the grill in favor of all black inside the cerium surround.

Let the wait begin!

First US Bimmerpost member to get one??? Let's see that delivery thread when it comes in!

Also, configurator still isn't live yet on the US site so I'm assuming you sat down with a CA to configure it?

I had used the order and pricing guides posted here and was very prepared when I sat down with the CA today. I had no relationship with the dealer and first spoke with this CA a couple weeks ago when I just dropped in cold. Using info from on here I was as prepared as he CA, and he is the guy who orders cars for this dealer’s inventory.

There are three dealers in this immediate market and I talked with one dealer, with the fanciest building, who bluntly wanted MSRP and the Missouri obligatory $199 paperwork fee. At the second dealer we agreed on a 5% discount plus any available incentives on delivery. They were pretty clear I wasn’t going to get 6% on a new model. Yeah, I might have done better next spring but I felt good about 5% on the new model when they have a bunch of 2020 cars on the lot. I didn’t think I could do any better at the third dealer, so...

My CA had just placed three dealer inventory orders For three 440son top of the two 430 promo cars they are being sent without being able to spec them. I took one of three they had just ordered and we tweaked the leather and just a couple of the options. Making it a sold unit bumped the production date up by three weeks.

Can't wait to see you new car. Sounds like a great build and thanks for not letting the forum persuade your decision.

Here’s my order...got a production number on 8/19

214B 430i Coupe USD…$45,600.00
C4F Arctic Race Blue metallic…$ 550.00
MAOI Oyster Vernasca Leather with contrast stitching…$1,450.00
ZDY Driving Assistance Professional Package…$1,700.00
ZMP M Sport Package…$3,800.00
ZPK Parking Assistance Package…$700.00
ZPP Premium Package…$2,300.00
316 Power tailgate…$250.00
688 Harman Kardon surround sound system…$875.00
6DR Drive Recorder…$100.00
Net Total…$57,325.00
Destination Charge…$995.00
Total Suggested Price (MSRP)…$58,320.00

The weird thing is, it’s a priority 2 order instead of priority 1. I’m guessing that means they tweaked an allocation instead of a client order like you got.

Nice! That’s two sold orders in ARB so far. My CA changed their inventory order to a sold order and that appeared to have changed the priority.

I thought about doing oyster, but decided on the black with blue stitching as a bolder contrast to the blue, and match the Shadowline window trim. Can’t wait to see how I did. LOL

Did either of you inquire about M performance parts and pricing?

My CA didn’t have any info on the MP parts just some accessories like license frames, etc. I emailed the BMWUSA genius today and inquired about U.S. availability, but it will probably be a Monday or Tuesday before I hear back. I’ll post. I want that grill.

Vmaxx - no didn't inquire, trying to keep costs down

VetteGuy - I have this rare dislike of black interiors. Probably because my first BMW 30 years ago was a used 1987 325es that had black interior and the leather was cracked and I couldn't stand it. And also I get annoyed that 99% of all German cars on the dealer lots have black interior--as if they all read the same statistic that most cars are sold with black interiors so they all order black...its a self-fulfilling prophecy. Same goes with skimping on options so they can move the vehicles faster (or so they think).

That being said, the blue stitching really pops on the black and it will look awesome in combo with Arctic Race Blue exterior. Aesthetically, its a much better color combo than my order, but I just have to have white or Oyster in my cabin.

Smiller155. I was torn between the two colors. I’ve had a number of cars with white or near white interiors and I love the look, including my current ‘67 Arden over white corvette. I thought briefly about Tanzanite with Oyster, but decided on easier to maintain, inside and out. I guess I’m getting old. LOL.

Both cars are going to look great.

Tanzanite Blue is a great rich blue color, I have it on my current 440GC (white interior). It’s not hard to keep looking clean (like my previous Carbon Black was) but it’s still a dark color and looks black at night.

Today, my status changed to priority 1 and my 430 went into production.

Vmaxx... I received a reply from the BMW genius yesterday who said there is not yet a North American plan for port install of M parts. They suggested continue to work with CA for retail purchase when the parts are made available. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what unfolds.

Thanks for the update! Not what I was hoping for, but at least we have an update. I’ll probably wait a bit longer to see if anything changes. The configurator still isn’t live anyway.

I’m guess they won’t go live until October. It gives people a chance to search for ‘20s still in inventory.

Well spec'd! Definitely go for go-flats, the ride is improved immeasurably. You will love the Black Blue with Alum Mesh! While I'm absolutely not a fan of that grille, I have tremendous respect for one who chooses for themselves and knows exactly what they want. Looking forward to the pics and mods!!

M440 to start Production Next Week

I just found out my M440 Coupe will go into production the week of September 1. I ordered Arctic Race Blue with Cognac leather interior and Open Pore Oak trim - which I hope offers some contrast and looks good.

Not sure why BMW USA hasn't added the new 2021 4 Coupe Configurator. The BMW Canada site activated it up last week. Strange...

Cognac and the oak should look great. We’re going to need some folks to order a few different colors though. LOL

I'm going to order Tanzanite / Cognac...dunno if I'll be the first, but debating on it. Might lease one for 2 years and then either keep it or get the LCI model or something. I've never leased a car before, always buy and sell later.
