Question - for those of us who'd have otherwise taken PCD if it weren't for Covid...any idea if we can get a voucher for a trip at a later date once everything is more or less back to normal?

Hi All,
Tanzanite Blue cost me $1,950.00. I am 95% sure that BMW of Manhattan is owned BY BMW of North America (Corporate dealership). I went to the dealer on January 2. First I was told that Tanzanite was not available as it is not on the website to add as a build. After that I heard nothing he was saying (lol). I have waited 6 years to get this color. But he says they communicate with Germany twice a week and he put in the order to see if it would be approved. He would let me know during the week. I got a call from him January 6 saying Germany approved it. The official order was submitted January 11. I got the Official build and production sheet January 15. I should have the car around April / May

Hey Bud, Unfortunately they wont do a voucher for later trip to the Performance Center. PCD has to be done at the time when you order the car and the car is shipped there. When your car get there they will give you an option of 3 pickup dates. You choose one. However if you choose a date and not able to make it. You might have to pay for storage until you get there and / or responsible for shipment if you want the car shipped to your dealer. BMW will not do that for free.
The good thing is that you can always stop by the performance center and take a look around. Atleast it was like that 3 years ago when I picked up the 340Msport.
Unlike Thermal in Palm Springs which you cannot just visit. For there you either have to be going there for one of their clinics or a visitor for an employee there. Found out from personal experience the first year it was open.

Just to follow up. My individual color got approved and BMWNA sent a statement for my dealer and I to acknowledge that the Lane Change Assistant is not available with an individual color.

I'm still guessing it will be there for Dravit and Tanzanite since they are listed as Priority 1 colors.

My Tanzanite build was approved and I have a production number. Delivery in March (estimated).

Edit : G22, not a G20. That may make a difference.

Curious when you ordered. My build is a M340 with Dravit Grey, and the dealer submitted to BMW NA for approval on December 23. Have yet to hear back yea or nea to this point. If I get a no, backup plan is to go with mlneral grey. After looking what Lane Change Assistant does, I dont know that we would ever use it anyway.

They submitted the request on Monday and heard back yesterday afternoon. That is what I thought until I started using it on my X5, now I use it for just about all my lane changes.

You will likely be able to have it since Dravit is listed in the pricing guide so likely lane change was tested and approved.

If the lane change assist is deleted from your build is lane change warning also deleted?

Assuming you are referring to the lane keeping assist with steering, that will still be there along with all of the other features of DAP. Only the lane change assistant is deleted.

Anyone interested in one of them before I cancel with one of the dealerships? Shoot me a DM in case I forget to check back in on this thread. Not sure if I should just make another thread for this or what - don't want to put the dealer in a bind but also not sure what the forum protocol here would be.

edit - nvm. Called the dealer and let them know I wouldn't be taking it - they're getting all their allocations today apparently so I didn't want to take up a slot for someone else who might want a different custom order.

Start of production for mine is first week of February

I missed a lot in this post so apologies if this was already covered. But I also don't have lane-change assist with my Dravit. Not sure if that's a 2021 vs. 2020 issue or a Dravit issue.

My X5 with Ametrin does have a functioning lane change assist however.

Sounds like they are coding it out from Dravit just like when you get an individual color. I was thinking that it would be allowed with Dravit since it was originally listed as a Priority 1 color (although with (ind) behind it) but I guess they are treating it as individual. Would be interesting to see that if Tanzanite has it.

Are there 2020 3 series with non priority1/individual colors that do have functioning lane change assist? Since Ametrin X5 has it but Dravit 3 series does not, I'm wondering if it's more model and year specific than it is the actual color.

As far as I know it is there in the 3 Series. I checked the manual and it is there but have not seen anything else one way or the other. If it wasn’t there then I don’t think BMWNA would send the statement to acknowledge that you would lose it when ordering an individual color.

Hi All,
Last night I entered the production number and it showed the car was getting ready for production. I checked today and saw a vin number and that it has entered production. Seems pretty quick considering I started this process on January 2. Let's see how long it takes to get completed and to reach the dealer.

It all depends on when on the allocation. I ordered mine on a Thursday and it entered production the following Tuesday. The build date was then three weeks or so after that. Entering production just means that a VIN is assigned and the parts put on order.

Did your dealer give you a build date? If not, give them or Genius a call and they should be able to give you at least the week, if not the actual day, that it will be built.

Extremely glad TB is still available! It's the best color offered imho.

Has anyone seen TB paired with Mocha, I'm torn between that and cognac. Either will be paired with the high gloss ash grey-brown trim.

Mocha discontinued on the M340, sir.

And agree, TBII all the way!

Oh interesting, I was told by the dealer this weekend it was still doable on the M340i. Perhaps they were wrong or I misunderstood, if that's the case that'll make my decision easy

I have TB / Cognac on its way...entered production today. Mocha looked too dark to me when I saw it in person, though admittedly it wasn't paired with TB it was on a white build. Cognac = warm, Mocha = dark. I dunno how else to describe it off the top of my head.

I was just about to order an M340i in TB today, everything was verbally accepted over the phone and few hours later I get a call stating that TB seems to have been pulled as a option 😫

The sales manager I’ve been working with mentioned being able to see the option for TB last week but as of today it’s gone.

Can anyone validate this?
