2020 M340i JB4 & catless DP RWD / update

I figured I would post my results to help others in the future decide if the JB4 it’s worth it since in my search I saw mixed reviews.

I will post my best run stock and my recent run after JB4 and DP install. All runs were done on 93, the JB4 run was done in map2.

Update
New run completed using Map3, I did add 1 gallon of E85 to 8 gallons of 93. Per some online E calculators it’s running an E18 blend. I did order the EWG connector so waiting on that to raise the E content. Still planning on taking it to the track to this week to see what she runs on a prepped surface.

12.98s quarter mile stock??? Looks like you didn't use launch control?

The improvement is great though.

I tried using launch control a few times, but did not have great success with stock all season tires and unfortunately I have the square set up. So 225s in the rear and rwd and launch control is not a great combination.

These runs were not done at the track. That is coming soon with a better tire set up

Ahhh that makes a lot of sense. I cannot imagine doing LC runs with a 380+hp car, that too an RWD, on skinny tyres!

Why haven't you tried map 3?

I can't wait till I get my new tire set up installed. I too have that awful square set up. Launch control paired with JB+ is more of a burn out session lol.

The mph in the 1/4 is impressive. I could only get 117-118 on my flash only tune. I wonder what I could pick up on mine with a catless downpipe.

Good question lol, I was under the impression that to run map 3 it had to be 93+ octane so I was planning on adding a little E85 to raise the octane rating. Not sure if running it on just on 93 was kinda pushing it?

Would it be ok to have JB plus setting at 75% and add one gallon of E85?

I’d add 3 or 4 gallons of E85 to a full tank myself but I’m sure others will disagree with that

11gallons of ACN91 plus 4 gallons of E85 (assuming at least 70% ethanol) should give you about 93 octane maybe a little more or less considering how good the pump and ethanol gasses are.

You have you remember our 91 in California is more like 89 unfortunately

Do you know if your DME is locked or not? Are you using the JB4 EWG? What drive settings are you using, for example is traction control on, dsc on, lane departure on, manual shifts or automatic, etc

Currently have a Catted DP and dinan exhaust.
I've read a lot of mixed things about adding e85.
I don't have anything to measure it.
I just wanted to add one gallon and top it off with cali's crappy 91 lol.

Just wanted to know if it was ok to do so
And if there's any negatives by adding a gallon

I wouldn’t get too crazy by going in on a half tank but one or two gallons shouldn’t even be debatable. I used to add a gallon or two to my hybrid accord when I was at a station with ethanol. There literally already is ethanol in pump gas and a gallon or two will barely increase ethanol content but raise octane...faaaaaaaaaaar better than using a can of “octane booster” in my opinion but as I said I’m sure others will argue the ill effects

True that. What I did was log my car on map 3 with 93 octane and send it to Ando. He said it looked fine with 93oct on map 3 and that it was safe for me to run it. I now add roughly 3.5-3.75 gallons of E85 to around 11 gallons of 93 for a full tank. That has helped my logs even more and the car feels better. You should do the same. Send BMS logs on map 2 and map 3 and see what they say.

Yes. 3-4 gallons is fine I guess. I do that in my 330i and BMS even said I could do that.

Not sure 1 gallon will do much? I could be wrong. But definitely nothing wrong in adding a gallon.

DME is locked, and I am not using JB4 EWG.
All runs where with dsc on and on automatic in sport plus, lane departure off feathering the throttle on launch due to traction limitations. I did install Michelin PS4s
245/35zr-19 last week on the rear ,hence the better 60ft. I plan on a track day either this week or the other to see how much better the times will be with a prepped surface.

7mph trap speed gain is really substantial, at least 80whp gained. Traction on RWD is really hard. Using the JB4 to limit boost in 1st and 2nd will help a bit.

Once I get more familiarize with the JB4 I will try that out.
Thanks

It's easy in app when connected to car just go to user adjustment, scroll down to 1st gear boost reduction, enter 6.0, and press save.

Better 60' and thats a mid to low 11 sec run trapping 120mph

I was running low 11.8's/ high 11.7's on an E90 with 2mph less trap, I see no reason these cars cant cut a 1.8 60' with the proper suspension/wheel/tire setup.

AWD guys are already running low 11's but cut ridiculous 60ft times
