Spotify removed from CarPlay keeps reappearing
I prefer to use the BMW Spotify App. On my phone, I have disabled Spotify as a CarPlay app, as I want to use CarPlay only for Waze.
Many times when I start up the car, Spotify songs are still playing in CarPlay. How to permanently keep Spotify out of CarPlay and use only the BMW app? I'm currently on the 7/2020 update. |

If you have the spotify app open/running in the background on your phone when you connect to carplay it won’t matter if it’s disabled for carplay, it will try to play through. You need to close it on your phone.

When I first got my car, I was able to assign CarPlay to shortcut button #1 and easily toggle between Spotify and CarPlay. At some point the CarPlay shortcut stopped working. Anyone know if there's a fix for that? |

CarPlay is fine, but the native Spotify is better. |

Overall things have improved, and having Spotify running on my phone does indeed appear to be related to the issue.
I've been mostly careful about trying to remember to shutdown Spotify on my phone before I approach the car, but sometimes I forget. When I do, my car seems to want to keep playing Spotify in Carplay for the duration of that trip On next startup, its fine. I also still cannot create a shortcut to Carplay, as I could when I first got the car. |
