okay so
does it tilt down in a 325 with sport pkg, power seats, xenons, and manule?

Yes, the mirror should tilt down since you have the power seats. The tilt down feature has nothing to do with manual or automatic transmission. If you have power seats, either from the premium package or as a separate option in the 325i, you get the tilt down mirror.

I was told by my dealer in South Africa, that the tilt in reverse was a setting that could be programmed at the dealer. I opted not to have it, seeing as I harldy ever parallel park!

I am sure it's a dealer programmable option....on all cars

You only get the tilt down function if you have electric seats with memory

Well my left side mirror tilts when I select reverse (manual)......

But then I am in the UK !!!

To be honest, I wish it wouldn't because I don't find it at all helpful....I want to see the "proper" view from the mirror, not just the ground....

Move the little switch that you select which mirror to adjust to the other side and your mirror should stop moving when you select reverse

Yes I have a manual 330i with power seats and the tilt down feature on the passenger mirror works on my car.

I love tilt mirror for parallel parking.. it makes it so much easier to see the curb. I think its a nice feature. I was always a great parallel parker, now im even better haha...

in summation, i dont have power seats with memory, therfor my mirror will not turn down when reverse is selected (manual tranny).

is it true i can have the dealer program it. it would make my life easier since im crazy about keeping my nice new rims scratch free!!!

You can order the tilting mirror as an separate option, atleast in Europe.

I think E90Fleet answered the question...the key part being the memory setting...I guess the system is depenedent on having a stored setting for where the mirror was orignally, so that it can return to it.
I guess, to keep costs down, they do not have a seperate memory chip for the angle of the mirrors themselves, and thus, as everyone has different angles they keep their mirrors at, it would be a very difficult design, or near impossible, to be able tilt the mirror and then restore it to its previos setting without a memory storing it.

Well acording to the product information manual: the tilt down mirror function is part of power seat option, so all 330 will have it and any 325 with power seats or the premium package. (US cars)

So if the people that said they have basic 325's are correct in having it they must not have basic cars, they have to have at least the power seats.... if someone does NOT have the power seats and this option please say so (the manula also says this is a seperate option, which makes me wonder if it is a product of the key memory system, as the key memory also controls the mirror settings, climate and audio systems..... so maybe the dealer can turn it on)

BellasBMW do you have the power seats, I do not see it in your car description?

Yep, it works.....or actually it doesn't if you move the switch....if you see what I mean!!!

So,
Switch directed to passanger side mirror, mirror doesn't tilt
Switch directed to driver side mirror, mirror does tilt.

in the UK.
