M Performance Parts

Looking for advice on whether to attempt to fit the M Performance side trims myself or get a professional on the case?

From the instructions it looks simple enough: -
1. Clean the lower body.
2. Line it up and tape it.
3. Mark and drill 14 holes per side.
4. Apply tape and glue.
5. Reposition, re-tape and fit the rivets.

What could possibly go wrong?
Problem is I know I am cack-handed and worry i will make a hash of it.
Am I overthinking it?

Just called into a local body shop and he has quoted £50 per hour plus VAT but said it might take anywhere between 2 and 4 hours hence me questioning how hard this really is.

I did it myself and used tiger seal to bond it, matter of fact I installed the whole M performance kit myself. I didn't drill any holes and it's perfect, nice solid fit.
You can use some 3m tape but I used that for the underside where you would drill. I then used tigerseal on the area that sits on the side of the car.

Be wary that tigerseal is messy, you will panic (like I did) when some of it goes onto the paint work. It's easy enough to remove when wet, use a damp cloth. If it dries I used a plastic trim remover to scrape away any excess.

You will need a second person to help align the the other end of the sill and hold it in place, as tigerseal can take a good 20 mins to have enough tack to hold itself in place.

That’s what I thought too, would have thought somebody competent could do them both within an hour.

He did say he would only charge for how long it actually takes but I wouldn’t have any way of arguing how long it actually took after the event, would be relying on their honesty.

Thanks Carbon Dude, sounds like a plan with that stuff.

Personally, i'd go to a professional that you trust - but as always, some of us are more handy (or brave) than others!

I just did a post, but can any of you share the fitment of your M performance skirts and front splitters, as the dealership didnt fit mine too well

Have a good mooch over the instructions, sometimes they quote a time, especially if they are OEM parts

Did anyone fit their own kit ?

I'm thinking about the rear diffuser myself but the front, sides and spoiler needs glueing ?

I fiited my own, the diffuser is the easiest, just clip it in. For the rear/front spoiler and sills I used tiger seal. It's messy stuff and you will need to dry fit some parts to ensure a clean fit. I bought some clamps from screwfix to hold in the front splitter where it meets near the wheels.
