DAB reception

Camera plugged or unplugged makes no difference. Both crap.

What I can't quite understand....it drops out, but if I press the pre-set it usually reappears immediately (until it drops out again)

Ha, I though I had a magnetic personality but static doesn't sound quite so good. But it is ****ing appalling that BMW can't even get this right and frankly couldn't give 2 sh**s about it.

You're right though BMW don't seem to give a sh*t about the issue and if it is to do with the DAB signal delivery they don't seem to be about to take it up with the people responsible for delivering the UK's DAB network. It's the usual 'it's not us to blame it's someone else' which is crap and not helpful at all.

I'll be honest despite having the standard professional multi media set-up in my car and Harman Kardon (but let's not re-open that can of worms!) and a whole load of albums on a USB flash drive (can't be chewed with Apple CarPlay), I very, very rarely ever have the radio/music on in the car. My wife on the other hand very often has her system on in her 220i (iDrive 6) and loads of albums on the hard drive but she has commented recently on the idrive screen (very) regularly showing 'No signal' for the DAB tuner and she drives a lot all over the North East region where we live on a daily basis.
So I'll tentatively say it might be a signal transmission issue rather than a reception and decoding issue?
Whatever the case it doesn't excuse BMW dealers' couldn't care less attitude to the problem. Bet it would get flagged up pretty quickly if the CEO of BMW UK always wanted to listen to DAB radio though!

I frequently get drop outs with DAB and I don't have any cameras or similar connected. It doesn't automatically switch to FM either, it just goes dead for a while. Right pain when it happens half way through PopMaster!

Just got my 23 model and having similar issues with DAB. Single drops out all the time and does not seem to switch to FM. It's flipping useless! Has anyone got this resolved?

For what its worth, recently, I've had a Jag XE, Audi A5 and now my M340i and they have all suffered DAB losses, however the Jag was the worse by far - it was painful and frequently refused to switch to FM, the Audi only frequently lost DAB and the switch to FM was reasonable, but the M340i has been the best so far. Any DAB losses and the FM switches in immediately at only a slight noticeable change in reception quality and volume.

I gave up and switched to RadioPlayer via CarPlay.

To be fair, we've got an F-Pace and previously a Q5 and an 840i and none have had these problems so I'm not convinced it's inherent. That said, I can get by with BBC sounds and other apps which does kind of make DAB redundant. It will be a long way off for a service but will probably just put up with it until then!

I drove to the airport in my truck the other day, and not once did it drop signal with its after market AutoDAB, even in the black spots that affects both my and the Mrs's Scooby.

I'm not sure I could resort to it, but sometimes bloody tempted to.
