How much for brake fluid change??

So my car 2021 car is due a brake fluid service in February, so I though I'd look up the price again.

I had looked at this before and thought OK £67 for a brake fluid service, fair enough.

But then I go to book the service and I see the attached. They really know how to rip the piss don't they. And I'm expected to pay for the disposal of the old fluid. so £110 to just have your brake fluid replaced. Really!!

Mines the same age-ish as yours (brake fluid due this month). So glad I bought five years service inclusive in the first year’s Black Friday sale.

The “standard scope” fee is the real annoyance, isn’t it. £30 just to connect your car to their computer. Total rip off.

Personally, I think both additional chargers are outrageous. Why do I need to pay for their environmental charges. That's up to them to absorb, they make enough profit!! And "Standard Scope" , OK so they created a diagnostics system only they have full control of, so they then have you up the creak w/o a paddle, and they can then charge whatever they like.

Charming, day light robbing bar stewards!

Service Inclusive does not seem to be available to me. Maybe I'd need to contact the stealer, Ooops!, I mean dealer myself to get a quote for that, if that's even available me.

From what I've read, buying a used car, probably not?

I'd never use main-dealer servicing if I wasn't forced to.

Would it feel better if the dealer charged you £82 for the brake fluid service? I assume the price the dealer pays for disposal of hazardous waste has increased and so now they show this as disposal of waste to look ecofriendly as thats the more popular thing than just up pricing the actual service.

That's exactly it....eco friendly disposal of hazardous waste (which seems to be just about everything these days) even tyres to a certain degree unless they can be given to companies that recycle them into 'jumbo crumb' carpet underlay, minced up for surfaces for horse riding arenas or a boat owner to hang over the side of the hull to prevent damage whilst berthing!

If you think these disposal costs are high you want to see the eye-watering charges for disposal of batteries, those costs for some of the early model i3 and i8s are astronomical!

I had my Octavia serviced at the main dealer I bought it from whenever is was due. I had the car for 8 years. Servicing wasn't that bad, but still more expensive compared to and independant garage.

It had a brake fluid change done about the middle of last year, not that long before I sold it. That was £56. No other additional charges for hooking the car up to diags machine or waste disposal costs passed on to the consumer.

BMW Reallly are just taking the Michael Fish with these additional charges.

I recently got a brake fluid and MOT done for £99 at a BMW garage near me- Stratstone in Bradford. The Leeds garage wanted nearly double. There are definitely offers available

Now that's more like it! Alas, both of the two BMW main dealers near me are owned by the same motor group, with the next being about 20 miles away, so not that handy for a simple brake fluid change.

I may give them a ring as that price above was generated via the BMW website. Perhaps the price over the phone could be cheaper, but I doubt it.

Always worth phoning. I'm in between JC Aberdeen and JC Tayside. Although the same group, the pricing is always different. I usually say I'm phoning Grassicks and HF too, to try and get the best price!
I think Grassicks are now part of Eastern and HF are now owned by Arnold Clark

My most local two are owned by the Douglas Park Group, and the one further away being owed by Arnold Clark, but yeah, it might be worth telling them I'm phoning around different dealers for a price, can't hurt! You are right though, Grassicks are now part of the Eastern Group.

Got Sytner dealer down from £120 to £91.85 I just told them that indy quoted me £75 and how close they can get to it. Car already was with them to do other warranty bits maybe that helped and I didn't want to go to another place rather get all done in one shop!

Last brake fluid change we had done was on my wife's 2 series coupe back in July last year together with the first MOT test.
The fluid change was £68.38 according to the bill I've just checked albeit not on G2x model car but can't imagine it being that different in price.

Don’t disagree with any of the above, however just to bring some balance, had mine done last year whilst in for some warranty work. At collection I was advised “don’t worry sir, the brake fluid change is on us”!!

Phoned my nearest BMW dealer this morning. I was quoted £100 plus VAT, so even more expensive than the price quoted on BMW's own website. Disgusting!

Nope, but I did mention I was phoning around for quotes, but as far as the young lady I spoke too was concerned, £100 + VAT was the price, take it or leave it.

I've been looking at seeing how much service inclusive would cost, and although I cannot seemingly get the soon due brake fluid service included in the plan, an addition brake fluid service is currently £46.16

A daft question perhaps, but when ID7 states Brake Fluid Service due 02/2024, I assume that means it must be carried out by the end of February, not before February?

TIA!

I don't think the timing is too critical to be honest. A few days or even a couple of weeks either way. 02/2024 would tend to suggest by end of the month to me.
In the end it's only to keep the service history up to date with regard to warranty claims mostly.

BMW recommends brake fluid change after the first three years and then every two years thereafter.

Modern day brake fluids would undoubtedly last a lot longer than these recommended service intervals I would suggest especially in the absence of any leakage from the system and provided it hasn't been 'boiled' from constant severe braking leading to the fluid becoming hygroscopic and losing its physical ability to perform correctly.
