Option deleted by BMW without communications (#487 lumpbar support driver)
I was a happy person, after 7 months waiting the car was on status 150 and the dealer provided me the VIN (G21 318i Mpack).
BUT, after decoding the VIN I could not find option code #487 lumpbar support driver. Dealers responese was that BMW decided without communicating to produce without the option. No communication at all. Dealer showed me proof that it was not his mistake. For me an essential option, they did produce it with #491 seat widh adjustment, which I could potentially live without. Lumpbar is a must have for me - have back problems. Dealer said "you can decide to not take the car"... What a joke! Any experiences on this.. and what are the options? I will not accept this, they will need to retrofit it.. Any consult is welcome!

Do you know if it is subsequently added back ie was this a short term supply issue or permanent?
As dealer states you have the option to reject as it’s not what you ordered Bmw should have stated to you , that’s poor do you at least had the choice |

The dealer is waiting for response from the BMW Holding in The Netherlands. So no official reason yet.
I found it too easy for them to say I can reject it after waiting for months! It’s just because of scarcity that they know they can sell it anyhow. Very poor customer experience. Also. I was aware the option Lumpar Support for driver was not available to order due to chip shortage. But for the driver…. Come on!

Yes I did thanks. But it’s not there…
The dealer confirmed it missing - and showed proof he ordered it. But said the factory decided to delete it in the final stage without any communication.

- Alcantara/sensatec Schwarz (CFKGNL) - Electric lumbar adjustment for driver (OS0487) DELETED! - Seatback width adjustment drivers seat (OS0491) - Heated front seats (OS0494) So its not that i forgot to think about proper seating. Why delete the Lumpbar and leave the Side Bolsters…

Confirmed that my new car will be delivered without S487 Driver Lumpbar Support. BMW has decided to produce without it…
Most annoying part is that the dealer gives two options: - Order a new car and wait 8 months (FFS!) - Accept it with €350 deduction. They are not willing to look at any other solutions. And also communicate it like that. Also I found out the issue myself. No communications at al. I am really annoyed by this attitude. This is not BMW worthy! I will now need to go to a company to manually retrofit a manual solution for €550. I for sure can’t drive 4 years without a lumpbar due to back issues. Also the car is produced in April but they dont know when it will be delivered as they dont know where the car is (!). It’s a €60.000 car FFS! Location: NL
