Thinking about it does it really make sense to make G21s in Mexico as they don't sell them in the USA?

It does, as it'll cost BMW considerably less from a labour perspective, even taking into account transport costs.

Think I've answered my own question.

If they make a 340i and send it to Australia then making a G21 for Europe should be OK too.

My mid-June order G21 M340i is now due to enter production in w/c 11 October and delivery is still scheduled for week 44 or w/c 1 November.

Seems like a very tight turnaround to me and I’m expecting further delays.

My mind august order had an allocated slot for delivery 20th November ish, checking with Genius over past few weeks it was scheduled for build date wc 18th Oct which gave an anticipated delivery date of wc 8th Nov. Genius as of yesterday said build now scheduled 4th October so hoping will be earlier.

See if it really starts build next week I guess

Update from my dealer yesterday. My M340i has now departed Germany and is en route, to either Southampton or Immingham. They are pencilling in a handover sometime in w/c Oct 18th.

Not sure how it is with BMW but with GM production has gone from a 3 month build to 8+ months and issues with transport. The chip shortage and constraints on materials are real and it won't get better until mid-end if 22'

What did you order? I ordered mine (330e) in July they said similar delivery for you 20th November.

Will check with Genius or so see if it's got a build date.

My G21 M340I entered production 16/09 and the dealer is expecting delivery of the car next week.

Been lurking for a few weeks now having ordered a G21 330e MSport Pro back in July.

Original delivery date was 8th November, which was moved back to 6th December, and was expecting it to slip again into 2022 given the stories on here.

Found out today, the car has been built! Expected in the UK first week of November, should be in the drive shortly after that.

I will caveat that with the fact the car doesn't have much of the tech that seems to be causing issues (HK or HUD) - It's been 12 years since I had a new car, so it's unlikely I'll miss it!

I’ve ordered g21 40d beginning of October and I haven’t been given a build slot as yet. Reading all the comments seems as though it’s going to be a long wait.

Not quite the Same but this is my situation. Ordered my g20 1st week of July and remained week 40 all the way through the build. Collected week 40 as planned.

Wife ordered an X1 on 2nd week of July with collection planned for week 44.

That slipped to week 52. Then week up to 48. Spoke with dealer this morning and it's now back to unscheduled with possible feb 2022 delivery. Dealer said it's getting worse before it's gonna get better! X1 I know, so probably different setup for that model but good indication of the issues.
