The odd thing is my previous car was a G20 330 (think jan 2020 build), which I trusted in what route it was taking me down for the year I had it. I’ve now got a G21 330i (June 2021 build) and don’t trust it at all, I have the wife put it on google maps on her phone while we drive. Even more curious is the speed limit detection, I never had an issue with my G20 telling me the correct speeds, my new G21 is awful. I can confirm this as on the exact same roads I drive daily it tells me the wrong speeds. Apparently, the other day I could do 80mph in a 20mph school zone. |

I have to say the sat nav in my new G21 seems better than BMW sat navs of old this one even tells me verbally time of arrival but time will tell and I shall carry on printing off an AA hard copy of a route I don!t know before I go I’ve been caught out by so called alternative routes before still don't completely trust technology, perhaps it’s my age. By the way I should admit I don’t even know what wave is!

I miss the +Xmins delay info that you got in the F30. Much easier way of getting a feel for the traffic, especially on routes you know.

Still exasperated with the satnav in my G22. Today drove to Poole, telling the satnav to take me to one of the main car parks. About half a mile from the car park, it diverted me down two ridiculously narrow lanes, though to be fair, eventually getting me to the car park. Had I followed my instinct, I could have stayed on the main road for another 150 yards, then turned left and got to the car park without any difficulty. This software seriously needs upgrading! It's not fit for purpose. One expects better when buying a BMW.

Personally I think BMW maps is terrible. I can't waite to get Android Auto back in my new 3 series which was amazing in my previouse 1 series.
BMW nav it a dogs breakfast with traffic issues and accidents. Plus as most of you have said it sends you on crazy small or mad routes. You can purchase speed camera option for £20 that will pop up a warning for static camera's. However, google maps or waze in my opinion are signifficantly better. |

Yeah, can’t wait to get CarPlay on my new 330e. Driving round london is useless. Due to so many road changes the car is utterly lost. Tries to make me take turns that I can’t turn on, or down roads that only busses and taxis can drive down. Driving round here these days is a nightmare and the bmw can’t cope. I live on the very edge of the congestion charge zone and the car can’t distinguish the boundary properly. If I want to avoid the zone the car can’t plot a journey around it, despite ‘avoid toll roads’ instruction as I live so close to it the car fails to find a route and plots me straight through the zone.

Hi All,
Okay, I went to the dealer yesterday after booking in for the re-call update to the IDrive system etc. (https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1922661) I now have Android Auto with access to Google Maps and Waze, that's basically sorted out this problem. If you can get it sorted then happy navigation! There is a little workaround on your Android mobile to bring back Google maps if you've updated to Android 12. I got a Pixel 6 Pro and Google Maps seemed to work with Anrdoid 12 and Android Auto perfectly well. In fact it defaulted to that, until I had signed in to Waze on my new phone.
Question for those that know....what is the benefit of Google Maps over Waze, or isn;'t there one? I like the police warnings on Waze, not that I ever drive above the speed limit!!

Google maps no information in the HUD, Apple maps limited information, just arrows and distance and very limited ability to configure maps. so for ease of use it looks like BMW satnav wins, it might not be the best but it puts all the information on the HUD and that is a massive plus for me.
