Visibility Pack (Laserlight, High Beam Assist)
Quick question
How does the Visibility Pack (Laserlight, High Beam Assist) work in the UK I understand you have to be going over 40mph and high beam on ? What does it give you as you can’t really drive with high beam on all the time, so assume the auto high beam assist turns it down and so removes the laser lights ? |

Anything about 37mph the laser beams are on constantly with high beam, this then dips/blanks out around cars in front or coming the other way.
They look great too. |

My Mrs has high beam assist on her car (Subaru), and it's really annoying as it doesn't come on at low speeds. Fine in town, but in the countryside where we are, when you can't do 40+ down the lanes - means HBA is usually turned off.
And then there is a particular thing I find annoying, but maybe the laser lights sort it. When on full beam, I often find the reflection off sign posts to be really annoying and will dip my headlights. Do the lasers block out signs? I suspect not, but.....

They are fabulous. Expensive yes, but if you do a fair bit of driving in the country, worth every penny.

Lazerlights
Recently bought a G21 first time out in the dark last night and wow talk about bright unfortunately kept being flashed by other drivers only realised too late the high beam assist was not switched on “ silly me “ guess I’m not the only one, struggling to find my way around the digital panel, all my other BMW’s have been buttons and dials.

As I understand it HBA with the standard LED lights doesn't give you the selective beam function - to get that you I think you need laser lights.

I think so. I believe the adaptive LED's on the M340i only move to look round corners - to get the selective beam function my understanding is you need laser lights.

I have the laser lights on mine, its nice, and certainly a bit better than the standard lights on the wife's 2 series GC, but not sure I'd pay £1500 for it.
Bought my car from stock the dealer had, so had no input into the spec of the car as it was already sitting there. I'd pay £500 for them, but not £1500. Have just ordered a new M440i and haven't included the laser lights in the spec. |

I drive in the dark the majority of the time, but half of it for me is the improved looks and nicer DRL you get with the lasers..
Appreciate it’s an expensive option, but I’d disregard most other things before I would them. |

It’s a safety thing for me. The laser lights give incredible visibility, and the dancing stuff allows you to keep full beam on even when there’s traffic approaching. Amazing how it keeps the road in front of you brilliantly illuminated but shuts off the area where the other car is. It gives a much more confident drive, especially on unfamiliar roads.

I think I'm yet to see anyone with the laser lights who don't think they are worth it. They look a million times better than the boggo lights as well, worth it just for that!

I have the standard LEDs on my 440d.
They are mediocre at best. Previous gen LEDs were vastly superior. If you do any type of night driving get the Laser versions. It doesn't help that BMW delete the fog lights on the M-lite models, as they were useful for fill lighting at slow speeds in car parks etc. Also they don't have curve lights, or perform adaptive dancing. Or in fact a real bulb on the inner part of the light - BMW went to the lengths of creating and fitting dummy/fake units. So, at least on the 4 series, the contrast is marked. D.
