Do we get in the car through the front door? That is a double door at the front, right?

If you can afford a 911, I don't even understand why you're debating the M3. I mean that positively. If I could afford the Porsche GT3 I want, I would've already left the BMW camp.
I can afford and am looking at 991.1 GT3s. However, practicality would suffer and my wife would be pissed.

So I am waiting to see what the M3 looks like since its fast, ideal for future kiddos, and looks good. But if it looks like ass, it will be easier to convince my wife that the GT3 is suitable replacement...
The thing is .... if you can afford a 991 GT3 then you can buy that and keep it.. then when the kids come, you can get a CX5 or something for a little more than a monthly starbucks bill.. the M3 is nice but offers no where near the drama of the GT3. if you crave drama... get the GT3 or maybe GT4 to leave some room in the budget for later while still having a fantastically good driving car. Obviously there are a million scenarios but I wouldn't sit around holding my breath if I were you lol

Hmm... in general, good new art requires time to fully appreciate. In fact, such works are often disliked at first, but then eventually become icons. Radiohead’s works come to mind as the perfect example of this phenomenon. Perhaps this is what will happen with the G8x Ms. Interestingly, the 911 design philosophy is diametric to BMWs. Porsche never does anything new or radical with the 911, and when viewed purely from an artistic stance, could be considered safe/boring/lazy (I still LOVE them though).

Personally I do not yet like the design of the G8x Ms... but the key word here is “yet”, as I will continue to be open minded about this design. Also, I haven’t seen the actual car yet... just the camouflaged mules, and speculative fan renders.

Just to follow through. Where the 4 has been clinic tested. It's vote on design for negative response as a percentage is in single digits.

Well, I hope you guys didn't have a bunch of study bias and or group think influence b/c Pontiac managed to release the Aztek and I'm sure someone on that team tried to justify it by saying, "we showed it to a bunch of people and they said they loved it!" That car too had some tall double kidney like grilles...

I mean, anyone can create a poll or study to get a desired outcome if they try hard enough so I'm just saying, the raw honest opinions you are getting from this forum should be an indication of maybe something isn't quite right.

And presumably they saw the entire car and not just cross sections, which they then extrapolated in way that consumed their entire minds with hatred.

They know how to conduct studies to get honest results. These tests are independently conducted by people who didn't design the grilles.

You are interpreting what he is saying in a more skewed manner than the skewed test results you are presuming to have occurred.

Don't forget that they conducted studies and someone agreed to push this to production...

And as I mentioned in another thread, at my visit to the Seattle auto show last week this (X6 M50i) was the most popular BMW by far the hour I was there. A lineup that included among others the F80 and F82, M2C, M5C, X3M and X4M.

A small sample group anecdotal observation but still telling vs the small sample group here on bimmerpost...the majority of the target market aren’t here commenting. We probably have the largest blinders of any group due to passionate affection to many older designs and cars.

While not my cup of tea, looks better than any other performance SUV out there.

Well, I'd go and see it myself despite not liking the design at all. In fact, X4, X6 and the GT versions of the 3 and 5 series have never appealed to me.

I actually like newer generations of the last models that is apart from X4 and X6 which have both hideous rear (just like the 2 series Grand Coupe).

We don't know that. What standard are being used? Is there any published data? This isn't a FDA approved clinical trial we are talking about here.

We don't know the contrary either, so it's a wash......

....however, considering that a company knows how it's performing in all of the markets and that company sees the customer (dis)satisfaction surveys (..and looks at figures we aren't privy to), the probability favors BMW rather than a bunch of anonymous forum members.

retro pontiac grand prix

The shot of the grill in this thread reminds me of the '73 Grand Prix or the '77, except for the M3 slats being horizontal. http://midsizebowties.net/pontiac-gr...ecs-1973-1977/ Will have to see the M3 in person to see if the grill looks as ugly and cheap as the ones on the 330 and 340. Congrats to bimmerfile who saw the resemblance of the concept car to a '71 Grand Prix (posted in the G20 forum).

I have to admit, that grey one is rather boss...and 400 hp. Sweet!
Does the front look like the leaked front of the G80 though, nah

Personally, this is what I thought of when I saw the leaked photos:
