I talk big before my big games. Now's you Aggies turn to talk big before next weekend...let's hear it!
Alabama by 17? I never bet on my teams, it's always been bad luck. But taking the Aggies and getting 17 points is awfully tempting.

Go Aggies!

what's BS about it? It's how the business of eyeballs work. More people will watch Penn State-Ohio State primetime than Bama-A&M. CBS realized that and decided to take the early slot instead of competing against the Big Ten game. I believe the Penn State-Ohio State game was pegged as a whiteout night game at the beginning of the season. It was just a matter of whether ABC or ESPN was going to air it. Since Ohio State is #2, they assigned it to ABC for more eyeballs.

At the end of the day, SEC football is just centralized into 3-4 major metro/viewing areas and covers mostly rural and smaller urban areas.

Atlanta- 9th largest metro area by population
Tampa- 18th
St. Louis - 20th
Orlando- 24th
Nashville - 36th

Big Ten games has always proven to have a wider range of audiences that spans larger areas of the country and more metro areas. Big Ten coverages are:

Chicago: #3
Washington DC: #6
Philly: #7
Detroit: #14
Minneapolis: #16
Baltimore: #21
Pittsburgh: #26
Cincy: #28
Cleveland: #31
Columbus: #32
Indy: #34

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...l-fan-map.html
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...tistical_Areas

And then if you want to dive into the specifics of PSU-OSU viewership numbers and Bama-A&M numbers the metro areas where you will get the majority share of eyeballs in those 3 hour blocks are as follows:

PSU-OSU
Washington DC: #6
Philly: #7
Baltimore: #21
Pittsburgh: #26
Cincy: #28
Cleveland: #31
Columbus: #32

A&M-Bama:
Atlanta- #9
Birmingham - #49
College Station - #187

What doesn't help the SEC is that LSU also plays at primetime the same night, which will take up the NOLA (#46) viewership area.

I'm pretty sure if you add up all the SEC games and Big Ten games (in-conference only), the Big Ten games will have more or virtually equal eyeballs on net in the entire season. The single largest viewership this year is an ACC game. But largest Big Ten game and SEC game are almost the same. Plus the SEC already "burned up" it's largest viewership weekend already in week 4, when the rest of the country had weak conference games. The biggest Big Ten games have yet to occur.

What I'm saying is that the SEC is consistently among the top 5 most viewed conference week in and week out. For the most part the bigger games usually fall at 3:30 since CBS gets first dibs on SEC games.

you talking about only week 6 and week 4? B/c those are the only two weeks where SEC has the "most top 5" viewerships that weekend. Again, I'm only counting in-conference games, b/c no one can take sole credit for LSU-Wisconsin, Bama-USC, Tennessee-Va Tech

When looking at A&M numbers, where are you when you factor in San Antonio (2 million people), Houston (6 million people), and Dallas (7+ million people)? Just as relevant as saying Philly.......And Dallas and Houston are bigger TV markets than Philly.

true, but UT owns those markets, A&M probably has 20% viewership in Houston, but likely won't crack 10% in Dallas.

?

I would disagree. I know just as many Aggies as UT alumni. Plus UT isn't as closely followed today because it sucks. Lotta people migrating towards A&M especially seeing what they might be able to do against Alabama this weekend

Not a good day, of the six games I followed, my team only won one. And that was my kids AAU basketball team.
