Active Sound Design - Change to different engine sound?
I read somewhere that you are able change the sound to a different engine sound (v8 m5 for example). Unfortunately the OP of that post did not elaborate and the post is rather old. Is this possible in BimmerCode or some other app?

No. And you wouldn’t want to either. You can code the sound off if you wish. Something that’s on my future to-do list. But changing it? Nope. And the reason why you wouldn’t want to is because it simply mics and amplifies the exhaust sound into the interior. Pretend for a moment you could do this. If you are cruising down the road, for example, you would get your exhaust sound plus the V8 sound and they would overlap, creating some serious dissonance and rhythms that would probably give you a headache or even worse. Would not recommend. Ever. And the first car company that claims it can be done has indeed installed a type of exhaust that is essentially dead quiet. That would be the only way.

Do you have any source for the info regarding the way the sound is produced? From where are they getting the sound if it's through a microphone? Cause, uh, our 330i's pumped-in sound did not sound real at all.

I knew it. Otherwise, how would we be able to (theoretically) change the sound? Ugh.
