It’s exactly what you expect. 18s is a couch, 20 is stiff but you get bonus points for style

guess 18 is the way to go for our situation. I'll probably be cursing and screaming when driving over the washboard highways in my city.

speaking of stiff and style... oh man, I miss the old days when I could fit into my favourite pair of tight black leather pants. I walked like a zombie but they sure looked nice. Fast forward 30 years, I can probably fit into them today, but I will probably not be able to take them off without scissors.

I have 19” winters and 20” summers and honestly don’t feel any major difference in ride quality other than winter tires are noisier.

interesting... just noticed that you're in Chicago? If you say you don't
notice any major difference, that's good enough for me! With all
due respect, Chicago have terrible road... just behind NYC/Newark.

I have not driven a G series on smaller than 20s but can say that the 20s on my m440i GC are more comfortable than the 19s on my previous BMW.

18s with non-RFT will be most comfortable. However, 19s and 20s are still great. The suspension on the 430i GC and M440i GC is very well setup.
