Spoke to the dealer this afternoon and the latest update, from yesterday apparently, is that mine is now showing status code 9605 Pre EU Port of Exit!
So it's made it to Bremerhaven, now just waiting to signed off by German Customs and then allocated a berth on a car carrier to head to Southampton. Still showing wk 36, 5th - 10th September, as the expected delivery week to the dealer. At least it's still moving in the right direction! |

yes mate , the sensatec/alcantara combo is now the default seating in M Sport models, with full leather now an option at £1300.
Coming from all leather in my F40 I am really enjoying the alcantara .. it keeps me from adjusting myself every now and again , which i found myself doing on all leather. |

Genius. I've not been bothering my dealer for updates as the Genius system is actually easier.
However the dealer has always been quoting me 2nd week of September, so if the car really is still in Germany, that's looking incresingly unlikely. So if I don't hear from them by the end of this week, I'll be calling thema nd requesting an update. |

BMW Genius always gives the build status codes as the three digit codes but from my information these codes can each encompass a number of stages in the process from ordering to delivery. The four digit codes that the dealers can access on what I believe is called the IVS system breaks down some of the three digit codes into more detailed stages. My dealer always gives me an update which is the four digit code version which appears to be more detailed and accurate.
I have a list of these four digit codes and they cross check with what the dealer has been telling me so I'm assuming my list is still relevant. Some vehicles depending on the particular model can be temporarily held at the factory if there is an issue that needs to be checked as well. An example of which has been some electric models, including i4s which needed to be physically checked to ensure that the battery pack covers were actually fitted due to the supplier omitting to fit some of the covers during the course of a production error. All I would like to say to other forum members on here waiting for their new car orders is don’t fret over these updates, BMW AG are clearly not keeping them ‘up to date’ very well at all.
Spoke to my dealer today and in the last six days my car has been despatched from the factory and ‘teleported’ to Bremerhaven where it was cleared by German Customs in the blink of an EU eye, loaded on to a jet ski, propelled across the Baltic, North Sea and English Channel, tossed up onto the dockside at Southampton, whizzed through Uk Customs, consigned by BMW UK and booked on to a transporter to go to the dealers next Thursday. You couldn’t bloody write it! Obviously I’m delighted with the progress of my order however it just goes to show what a debacle the build status updates really are, too late now for me not to lose any further sleep over it but honestly don’t let it get to any of you others out there. The one thing that appears to have been the most reliable indicator throughout this, at times agonising process, is the 'expected delivery week' which although mine slipped twice from wk 32 to wk 34 and now wk 36 has at least been right with my car due at the dealers on the Thursday of wk 36, so in my personal experience this is the pointer most worth watching and to ask your dealer or BMW Genius what it's showing whenever you ask for a build status update! |
