Lease price for M340i?

Guys, I’m just thinking through the value proposition here and realized that an M340i with most of the options folks will want should pencil out to $70k. So a loaded M340i will end up leasing for over 900 or nearly 1000 a month once it’s all said and done and interest rates go up another few times by the times these cars are on sale.

We all know the days of great lease deals on BMWs are over but it’s only going to get worse with interest rates continuing to rise and the increased cost of a loaded 3 series. How many takers will there be for this car, as good as it may be, at 900-1000 a month? For a non-M 3 series?

70k seems a bit much... i mean, i can't see the m340i being much more than a x3 m40i. a x3 m40i with a wheel upgrade, m sport diff, exec and premium packages, and h&k audio is $63.5k + destination. and it has all wheel drive, so I can't see a m340i being more than that.

So i'd guess say $62k msrp without AWD - some negotiation. lets call it $58k (which would be the same as a euro delivery discount and you could probably do better unless its like the absolute first units).

I think there will still be a decent number of takes.... If an m3 is the typical $20-25k more (it already starts at 70k with no options today).

For me under $60k for a loaded m340i is still a lot less sticker shock than $80k for a loaded m3 especially considering the HP gap will be likely be smaller this time around , and that the m3 won't have a dual clutch to truly differentiate it.

I guess I’m thinking fully loaded. My 440 was 67k sticker so I’d imagine a slight bump for the new generation. Even with a 60k price for one with fewer options, lease payments will be north of 800/month. Just curious what the market might be for this type of pricing arrangement. I suspect BMW may be trying to bring the 3 series upmarket and perhaps be willing to sacrifice some sales volume to do so.

I like what the m340i probably going to be and all, but its going to have to play in the same price range as a S4 or C43 . I'd guess ultimately it'll attract just as many buyers as before proportionally, as the 330i isn't any faster than the old one... and the m3 will still be much more expensive.

Competition is more than when the F30 came out. I mean the W206 C class is right around the corner with an even more powerful M256 inline-6 and the Lexus IS will probably get some variant of the new 3.5L v6 twin turbo so its not like they can just irrationally price it. I get the feeling BMW is putting this many improvements in this car just to stay competitive not so much move the car up market.

Your analysis is off by a bit, if they keep similar residuals and msrp even as high as 70k loaded with all options you are prolly looking at 800 per month max after tax (for most states). Maybe the first few months of sales might creep over that number but once the first holiday settles in it will drop below. And stay there. If you want one of the first few in the US you might pay a premium.

If you are going to spend $70+k on a 340/440, just get an M3/4. My M3 was $72,xxx and had most of what you want - 19" wheels, adaptive suspension, premium (Nav, leather, HUD, heated steering wheel, etc), upgraded radio, etc. My 340 was $58k (admittedly 4 years ago) and was equally optioned - MSport, x-drive, 19" wheels, Nav, etc.

Edit: Both were manuals.

Well given that order books are open for the 330i, I wasn't sure if preliminary pricing was starting to make its way out.

I can't imagine spending $70K on an M340i regardless.

I'd get an outgoing F82 M4 at that point.

I'm paying under $900 for my M3. 63% and .00132MF so I'd have a real hard time paying anything close to that for a M340. But with BMW raising rates and lowering residuals that might be the reality. That would put me in the market for another Brand.

I'm thinking the msrp is gonna be just over 50k approx 9k more than the 330i. I think the m340i will come nicely equipped as a base so lm gonna say 55/56k is a good number with a lease of $650 with $3500 down..

I guess it does depend a lot on where BMW places the residual. For the 4 series it’s only 57% for 10k miles a year. MF is .00167 and rising. Run the calculations on a lease for a 60-70k car with a 57% residual and a base MF closing in on .002. It’s expensive! I know 3 series residuals are a bit higher so that may help a bit. I guess all I’m trying to say is that the days of 600/month 340i leases are over.

To some maybe.. it all depends on what you want your payment to be and what they have as the residual.. I personally haven't put down that much, but I pay $450 0n my 320i lease with $1200 down (tax title, license, 1st payment)

I mean it's possible if a.) you put more money down or b.) The time you buy it.. end of month, end of year.. wanna clear the lot.

That is true... so then I guess you'll just have a higher payment..

I don’t lease but I paid way below $70k for euro delivery on my 2015 M3 with upgraded wheels, audio, premium pkg with things as HUD and leather dash. If the M340i is $70k there is no way in hell I’m geting one...that is just nuts to pay for a non M 3-series.

I can't imagine it being that much of a price hike over the current generation. For that money you can get into an M550i x drive. The base M340i will be s drive m sport per my understanding. It might be $1.5k-$2k more than the current car but with more standard equipment as per past price increases for a new model release.

Yeah, if the 330i pricing is anything to go by it should be more like this than a direct jump to $70k. I'm sure you'll be able to option one close to that if you really want, though lol.

The current M-Sport 340i x-drive is $51k, so I would guess the base on the M340i should be sub $60k at least...

From the few articles I read the starting price will be high 40's low 50k..assuming this is the rear wheel drive, but I also keep reading about m340i drive, not sure what will be standard...again assuming going off of previous year's rear wheel will be standard and x drive an option. The x drive has been the one savior for me for this car as it would be very close to the current m3 but with all drive.

Of course it's not am m3, but it will be pretty damn close and 15k cheaper. Win/win for me, maybe not for everyone else who can drop 90k on something that depreciates...
