what is this battery indicator in the dashboard
I noticed at on my 320i's dashboard there is this battery logo (see pictures below) when the engine is on, I often assume that it just means my battery status is OK.
I also noticed that when driving and I am not accelerating and breaking, sometimes that battery logo will be gone and a small car logo with the same blue colour (just below that number '90') will be shown, and as soon as I break/accelerate it will disappear. Is this the 'regenerate breaking' people were talking about? I simply can't find anything Driver's guide (app) regarding neither of these indicators. |

Engine running, charging and coasting in pictures below.
Side note, in charging mode car is not using any fuel but it will engine brake/slow down. When coasting, some fuel is injected but car isn't slowing down so much. When downhill it will actually accelerate a bit. Both good in specific road situations. I'm also attaching fuel consumption in L/100km below so you can see it better. Not quite the same as a 'normal' car. There is a charging strategy under intelligent alternator control, which takes into account Battery SoC. Will cut back charging rate (won't charge until the battery is full) and run on the battery in certain conditions, like when accelerating.
