How about the Cadillac CT4-V "Blackwing"?

With the potential demise of the manual G80, I think the CT4-V Blackwing might be my next car. The predecessor to that car, the ATS-V is widely considered to be the better handling sport sedan/coupe, but with a compromised interior (size and tech). If the CT4 interior is good enough, it may be a better option than looking for a used F80.

If the CT4-V BW were to get a GM small block V8, it'd certainly be an easier decision. Instead, its expected to get a twin turbo V6 which I'm not a huge fan of.

I love V8s.. FI or NA. The design of caddys (inside moreso than outside) is a big show stopper for me. Looks like the new CT5 isn't gonna be much better than before...

I think Caddys depreciate much more and faster than BMW's?

Well domestic cars can usually be purchased with a pretty good discount. So it makes sense that their used car prices have an offset compared to BMW. However, the V Blackwing will probably not drop off quite as much since not many people will buy them new but will be somewhat popular in the used market. So not a big difference.

The big question is how ugly it will be and if the interior will be acceptable.

ATS-V was a fantastic driving car with excellent steering feel, sadly no one bought one, but it should still be interesting to see what they do none the less. Also, now V is downmarket with M performance and AMG sport, so is Blackwing supposed to be their new hi-po division? I thought blackwing was the name of the V8?

I was looking at one and the interior built quality was pretty bad. The seats rocked back and forth. The salesman said it was designed that way to help absorb the acceleration. I have to give him credit for the creative answer.

Yes, one thing Cadillac really needs to improve on is their interior quality, its just too similar to that of a normal GM quality, but the driving experience and chassis are probably best in class, BMW could honestly learn a little something from the ATS-V and CTS-V.

Oh yeah, the driving experience was great. I just couldn't get past the lousy interior.

Reviving this thread as some new details about the Blackwing were released yesterday:

https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-car...ng-manual-v-8/

I do not know the exact dimensions, but not sure why Cadillac insists on aiming the CT4 at the 2 series/A3 when it appears closer to a 3 series size and the CT5 closer to a 5'er, but I guess they are making their own niche.

The idea behind the marketing of the CT4 and CT5 is the same of that of the original CTS. 5-series size for 3-series money. This then changed with each generation getting more expensive, pretty much being 5-series size for 5-series money but it looks like they are going back to the "value" strategy.

I am partial to German Sports Cars, but any sedan with a manual will be under consideration. If it was a wagon, I would absolutely take it over a G80. I saw a teaser vid of the noise when manually shifting - the car sounds amazing!

To have another 4-door / manual option is great news for all enthusiasts.

IMO there’s never been an American car with overall efficient packaging and interior quality feel and sadly it looks like there never will be. A pity since many cars have wonderful character and personality. I just can’t overcome the inefficient packaging and lack of nice interior design and quality.

Let's hope the Cadillac boss pulls through on this one, he is apparently considering it... https://www.thedrive.com/news/33055/...gineering-boss

Dealer experience alone will prevent me from ever buying a domestic car, period.

I was really into GM muscle cars back in the day and never again. To this day, I still hear horror stories from friends & colleagues about their experiences when something goes wrong with their brand new domestic cars.

With no more Euro Delivery from BMW (https://bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1717729), I will definitely consider the Cadillac. Might as well try something new. Part of the 'German Experience' was taking delivery in Germany.

Agreed, euro delivery has been an integral part of my BMW experience since I moved to the U.S. twenty years ago. Every time has been such an event. Not good.

BMW has no clue how many people bought M3/M4 just off of the group Euro Deliveries posted on this board. Their excitement made me place an order, the pics, the info about the cars, opinions, hype, driving impressions, you had to have it.

Terrible decision, it seems they want enthusiast to go to other brands, makes no sense, there are so many diehards that want to be loyal and they want to turn into Audi. Odd decision by BMW.
