I'm going to get on the list for a G80 when it's available to sign up.
Looking back, I've personally never not liked a new M gen. I think designers are ahead of us in what the public likes and will soon accept. BMW is not going to let the M3 flop. Ain't gonna happen! But that's just like my opinion man 😎 |

I've had various BMWs since college, and after 12 years I think I have finally outgrown the brand as I approach my mid 30s. The new M3/M4 grill is what did it for me, I assume BMW has done their research and I am just no longer in their target demographic.
This is probably the best and most robust car forum out there though, so I will stick around to see people do their European delivery blogs and delivery pictures, which I always look forward to. I have been spending more time on the Porsche forums, and I can say it will definitely not be the same. This forum has added a ton to the BMW ownership experience over the 10+ years I have lurked and been a member. I am embarrassed to admit how much time I have spent on here over the years, I am curious how many of the long term BMW owners (10+ consecutive years of ownership) will permanently leave the brand over a grill. Will we look back 10 years from now and classify BMW as pre and post grill? Last edited by CityLife; 05-27-2020 at 12:56 AM.. |

Wow I guess I missed that news from a few weeks ago, just goes to show that I have been spending less time on here. I just read up on the reasoning for the cancellation of the program, and it being because they want to focus more on the U.S. built SUVs for US customers, man that is just adding insult to injury here. Yet another reason to jump to Porsche.

With no Euro Delivery - Blackwing CT5-V might be my next sedan.
Never would have considered the car, but now that I have studied it, I am very intrigued. Also, they might offer a sport-wagon, which would be amazing. Here is a little clip.... |

If a recession hits the new M3 will have a tough time especially with that polarizing looks.
It would suck if they came out in 3 years and did a major ICL reverting back to a more conservative look. the early cars' value will be literally 0.

I feel like this is exactly what will happen. Don't let the stock market fool you, we're in a recession. Time to eat some crow BMW for losing your way.

The opposite is more likely. No one expects a car launched in a depression to be a success in sales. The people in charge for the G8X has the best excuse you can have when absolute numbers are low. Relative sales to competitors will matter and since I like the new design I doubt it will fair worse than earlier iteration vs direct competitors. I.e Model 3s and Taycans are not invited.

Next phase of my plan has come together. Got a pickup to tow my track car and use as a daily since I'm moving to the Midwest from Northern California and it actually rains/snows out there.
Next phase is to trade my SS1LE for a Z06, GT4 or GT3. May also trade our Jeep for an M3 at that time.... so a G80 may still be in the cards.

I've heard conflicting rumors. Some say it's keeping the V8. We'll have to wait and see.

New Ford Bronco is confirmed to have a 6speed manual. I know apples to oranges, but not necessarily.....when Porsche did a study on Caymans that were traded into dealers, thinking they were buying another sports car, to their surprise, the vehicle replacement most often was a 6MT Jeep Wrangler.

Genuine question here, about your confusion. If there is another option to the manual 'pure' M3, please enlighten us! It needs:
4 doors (for kids in the back) Large boot (trunk) for shopping and trips MANUAL Transmission 400hp + Track reliability re: brakes, suspension, motor Warranty |

M5 and X3M are top of my list now, but I may go nuts and buy out my F80 lease. Thing is gorgeous, tuned, and hasn't let me down even once.
