USB ports for music

M340i - is the usb port forward of the drink holders the only/best port for a thumb drive?

My F30 had one in the center console (elbow rest) which was nice and out of the way...

The USB-A between the cup holders and the USB-C under the armrest are both data/music + power. You should be able to use an A-to-C adapter for a thumb drive under the armrest. The 2 USB-C ports in the back are power only.

Doesn't make any difference. Either of the USB ports are fine for a thumb drive. You can buy thumb drives that have both connectors ..different ones at each end. Or just buy a converter cable.
I personally only use the port in the centre console with the thumb drive connected to the C port via a short extension cable. Minimise and damage to the port that way.
If you use the port in front of the cupholders, buy the smallest physical size thumb drive you can find so that the folding lid will still close

Hello,

Has anyone tried to connect SSD drive? My Samsung 1tb SSD is not recognised by idrive. I tried various file systems such as FAT32 and NTFS, still no luck.

Thanks!
