DIY Oil Change and Filter Gasket
Funny story. So, I’m new to BMW and previously changed my oil on Honda’s and Acura’s for 25 years. Nothing new, right? Yeah, not really 🤪. Originally, I placed my gasket at the top of the cap housing thinking that was the normal place for it. After 48 hours of on and off troubleshooting and oil coming from the housing (sometimes a tad bit, other times pouring out- ugh), I removed the whole housing and finally realized the gasket sits in the large groove below the top of the housing.
Welcome to German cars. I was so close to throwing in the towel and sending my car to the dealer. |
