BMW has finally succumbed to following Audi and Lexus humongous grills. It will look bold coming at you though.

If it's anything like this. Well, it's just horrendous.

IMO it looks menacing and purposeful. It's not pretty but an A-10 isn't either.

If you were to park this car next to a C63 and a RS5 in an underground lot it would play out exactly like the sled dog scene in The Thing after you'd left.

I am contemplating a RS5 as my next car but if this car comes out looking like these renders I will hold off. I would even breach my rule of buying only colored cars. This could only be matte black or grey .

Just my opinion. Not looking to offend anyone

Wow thats the first time I hear this. I do not see the function, sorry, as most BMW's in the past did not have a hoodline, also most newer models to not have them either. So what's the function? Passenger safety? I do not think so, then the whole VAG Group would have to do add this feature as well. It's like having a second door line in the middle of the door

That's the case! There are hoodlines who are actually looking good. Take any recent Lambo or the Giulia qv. There it's part of the hood design. But it isn't in BMW's case as in the past the hood design was the same, just without the hood line.

Take a look at the past M3 generations - hood design was always the same, the outline ending in the middle of the headlights, with some small cuts on the kidney's height (e46 was different though). It would have also been possible with the F generation, but yeah... it does just look soooo much cleaner without! And the fact that the hood goes upwards on the G80/82, it makes things even worse. @SCOTT26 Could you please clarify?

The big grill doesn't really bother me because I'm not a traditionalist BMW guy so I'm not offended by the change. I know most probably think it just looks flat out bad but I don't... maybe I should get checked for covid

Thanks for adding unnecessary sarcasm to the thread. If you're going to be a jerk, you could at least be funny, clever, or add something of some value to someone.

Someone photoshop a regular grille and the classic tri-split A shaped M lower bumper onto this car. Seeing the N95-mask equipped model gives me some hope that the rest of it works pretty well. It's that insane grille.

You're not the only one... I like change as it's BMW taking the risk, not me so I'm reserving my judgement until I see it in front of my eyes to decide if I'll buy one. If I don't like the way it looks I'll be disappointed but I'll find something else. Simple.

I'm not expecting "love at first sight" as with the E46 M3 20 years ago, but the E90 M3 and F80 M3 didn't drop my jaw either.

That is SO ugly.

Not saying your work is bad - just the design of the car SUCKS.

I was actually just thinking this last night. I built a g20 online and kept thinking "wow this is such a good looking car."

Why couldn't they have just kept that front end for the 4 series and M3????

I still cannot believe people actually like this. But then again some of my choices of ex girlfriends were very questionable too so who am I to talk. Lol

Btw my comment was not a knock on the op but the design language of BMW.

I've been on the fence but these renders are making me more excited again. I so agree I think the grill will look more stealth on a darker color car.

Loss of DCT and no powerdome have always been the bigger bummers for me, personally.

Audi vibez , it seems like these days Benz is copying Bimmer and Bimmer is copying Audi. I agree with Dr. Porsche. Change is easy , improvement is difficult. Look at all the top tier brands like Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche, Rolls, Bentley, Maserati etc, they improve on their design. But BMW, Mercedes has lost their way. Audi sticks to the script mostly.

the fact the M series will have no "trim" is going to be interesting to compare in the flesh... It, especially if blacked out, will look more like another two intakes than a grill per se as it will in the 4-Series (non-M)

If they really go with this awful grill I seriously hope they don't design the hood like this. It accentuates the ugly grill/lines even more!
