It doesn't sound good at all, just better than the F80.

Yes. We could be seeing one of these:

Base without OPF.
Base with OPF.
Comp without OPF.
Comp with OPF.
MPE without OPF.
MPE with OPF. That one kinda unlikely, seeing as BMW has stopped selling MPE because of particulate filters and increased noise restrictions in Europe.
Both are EU6D with OPF and M Sport Exhaust. However one is a G80 base without the resonated tip finishers installed while the other is Comp with the resonated tips fitted.

Just unmask this damn car already. We all have a somewhat good idea on what it looks like. Of course, it'll just restart the "oh Gawd, them grilles!!!" motor.

Much as I like the MPE on my F80, I still think my C63 S with the PE sounds better. The MPE looks cool though, with the carbon tips.

Personal opinion but I've never liked the sound of the MPE exhaust on the F80; just amplified the terrible stock system.
It's taken me 3 different exhaust systems to find one I like all around.

You're right though, the aesthetic of the system is amazing.

I don't find the G80 sounds much different.

Could it just be the competition model? I always thought that the MPE's had finished and polished mufflers. It doesn't appear to be the case with this model.

I don't mind the exhaust note the S54 produces. It's unique. Some love the rasp, others hate it. I personally it doesn't bother me, but I also don't love it.

However, the S54 engine alone sounds amazing, especially when you pair the induction noise with the OE CSL airbox, which IMO is the best induction noise of any mass produced car, ever. The e46 M3 was able to make up in induction noise what it lost in exhaust note.

I was lucky enough to have one installed on my non-CSL e46 M3. The sound was spectacular! Videos don't do it justice. It's incredibly pronounced in person and can be heard blocks away when you rev high. I got more compliments on induction noise than any other mod. Ok, I'm going to stop now before I start tearing up

My favorite (old) video that sold me on the sound:

Best sounding to me in terms of how metallic it sounds, including the rasp ofcourse, it is very special and like no other, in a good and sporty way.

Lovely vid, I agree on the induction noise too, sounds amazing

Does anyone know if the MPE shown in the video has the GPF? EU or NA version?

It sounds the same. Car looks bulky, hard to tell if it will come out slick and muscular. Though lit sounds better quite a bit than my M4. I want to see a total package, M fanatics are expecting more. Will see.

I disagree. DCT and ZF shift faster than that.
