I'm sure mine looks slightly different. Do you have a Connected Music option? Pretty sure mine goes Radio then Connected Music then Spotify then Music Collection then USB content then Bluetooth then CarPlay. I think... ;-)

Interesting question... I hadn’t really bothered with connected music as Spotify worked but you are right it doesn’t show on my menu although I have checked the box in the menu preferences. Another anomaly!

It shows in connected drive that I do have the connected music option .. see photos.

Thanks for this - I've just logged out of BMW music, and Spotify reappeared and I've logged in.

I imagine you can only be signed into one service at a time.

That appears to be the case.

It is. You can either sign into BMW Connected Music OR Spotify but (at the moment) not both. This had me bugged for a few weeks on initial ownership.

I've been told by BMW that Spotify is part of the connected music package.

Spotify is definitely part of the connected music subscription. But it's been playing up recently for me along with the connected drive app both mobile and inside the car.

After the debacle of my software upgrade, I finally got Spotify after a factory reset. I though all was well, but every time I switch the car on, I get a screen that just says ‘loading’.
I have to do an idrive reset every time I start a journey in order to get Spotify to work. Any ideas??

No, it's part of the Connected Music package and as far as I'm aware you will need a Spotify subscription also. Before I had Spotify in the car I tried deezer, it wanted a subscription for that, not the free ad based version. I assume it's the same for Spotify.

The strange thing is that the BMW Music app on the store does not mention Spotify as being part of the app.

I also noticed that apparently, BMW are now including 3 years Connected Music from the factory although this may only apply to the US market (https://www.dsf.my/2020/01/bmws-new-...ount-directly/).

It does appear to be unclear. My Spotify disappeared three weeks ago which is almost exactly 6 months since it was built. I've queried with BMW connected drive and they have raised a query with technical.

BMW confirmed to me a couple of weeks ago that connected music was included for 3 years now with all vehicles (incl. those where the trial period has not yet or has recently expired), allowing Spotify, Napster and Deezer users to use their accounts in the vehicle.

That's interesting as my trial has only just expired.

The current BMW 3 series brochure mentions unlimited Spotify with your premium account and BMW Connected Music using the vehicles sim. Doesn't say how long for but I guess 3 years now along with Carplay?

BMW Music

BMW Connected Music and BMW Music are not the same thing. BMW Connected allows those services that are included to integrate with your iDrive. BMW Music is a music service you have to subscribe to also. It's really good, based on Napster Premium, but at £120 per year I'll not be paying.
You might now get BMW Connected for 3 years but it seems you only get BMW Music for 3 months.
Spotify I'm not sure about as it seems different to the other ones they include in the Connected pack. Are they giving you the music service or just the ability to integrate it with the iDrive?

Almost free spotify plus Spotify logging off issues

I have spotify working but it randomly logs me off and I have to pair it with bmw by scanning the QR code.

Also, if you are in the UK, buy this from currys for 2 quid and get 6 months free spotify.

Due to the current Covid situation, I've not worried about trying to get Spotify back. BMW have not responded which is understandable and I had resigned myself to probably needing to pay in order that Spotify could be restored.

However, I've just noticed that BMW UK have now added more information here. The page now clearly states that Spotify is part of Connected Music, but at the bottom of the page in the FAQs, in response to the question "How much does Connected Music cost?", the reply is:
"All new BMW vehicles capable of using this service feature a 3 year subscription from the point the vehicle leave the factory. More details will be announced on renewal costs in 2021 when the first vehicles will start to see this service expire."

That infers that all G20 UK 3 Series should have Connected Music for 3 years. The page also states that cars need software 07/19 or higher (which my car does have). I guess that it will mean a trip to the dealer once the situation improves.

In the great scheme of things, it is not important but the page does now add some clarity to the ongoing Spotify debate.

I used to have this issue, then #Tam the Bam kindly gave me the solution. You need to log into Spotify using the manual username/password option rather than the QR code.
