Black mirror caps

Has anyone been able to get OEM black mirror caps for their G21?

I want to change the Cerium grey kidney grilles on my M340i to black but I think it will look wierd with the mirror caps the same.

I had hoped to find some OEM BMW ones on ebay but no such luck so far.

Cheers!

There are no OEM BMW ones. You have to order an unpainted mirror cap andy have them paint it.

That's a shame, the ones I've seen must be where people have ordered them black so they've been painted essentially.

Anyone know any good aftermarket ones?

The black mirror caps are an option from the factory (on the extended gloss black or shadow line package). However, they don't keep stock of these like they do of the other gloss black pieces (grill, fog light bits, exhaust tips). You have to get them painted or wrapped.

Ok thanks.

Don't suppose you happen to know part no's for the fog light parts and the exhaust tips do you?

Thx!

I should have but didn't lol. Although I've had the dealer retrofit all of the parts that come with it, so yes I spent a little more but still the same result

Read on another thread in the main forum that the mirror caps are extremely hard to change. Has anyone gone down the route of having them wrapped in say gloss black? Think its a nice touch so considering this rather than messing around trying to change them.

It's not that difficult. The part I was most worried about turned out to be the easiest & that was removing the glass. The hardest part was disengaging the upper clips on the left hand side of each cap. To.be honest I do have to sort out the non tilting issue I've now encountered on the passenger side mirror but the caps I have replaced my original ones are much, much easier to remove so I should get to sorting that out fairly quickly.

I would think that the finish wouldn't be that great if done that way

Good to hear. Might consider some atlhough got a guy who going to wrap the grill surround and he said he can sort the mirrors as well.

I ordered some carbon ones for my old GTI and they were impossible to fit. Ended up returning and getting some genuine gloss black ones and they were so easy to install. I'm ok with trying to fit stuff but don't like to be too challenged!

Have a go at just removing the ones you have. A tip I would give is in order to pry the glass off find a tool or something that has as wide as end as will fit underneath the glass and is not going to flex too much as anything to narrow and you'll risk cracking the mirror.

Did anyone go the route of vinyl wrapping the mirror caps without popping them out?

The indicator area makes me think the cap will have to get taken off to do it, but I hope I am wrong.

Presumably G21 would fit G20

Also presume unit 17 swapped them over for you so you wouldn't know if a diy job? As I'd probably wanna do myself

They are m sport black gloss? If just standard swap like for like I would probably swerve the chance sorry
